thanks,
i am more worry about the wider tire on a steely.
i know you can fit 205's on a 6.5" wide ALLOY wheel, i am not sure about a steely 6.5" wide. with a 205 tire.

anybody else ....

Yes, the tire will fit on an OEM steely. However, that is a huge tire size. Ask me how I know.

If your car is lowered, you will have rubbing issues. More specifically, the tires will rub on the inner fender area. It will notice out sections in the thread.

I take it you found a "great deal" on tires etc? IMO I would still with OEM sizing (195/55/15) or 205/50/15.

I wouldn't call that size 'huge'. It's only .5" taller than a 195/55/15. I ran a set on OEM wheels to get a comfortable ride for a while, and it worked pretty good.

But to answer the OP's question, it'll work fine on any rim from 5.5" to 7.5" wide. Rubbing is all in the offset of the wheel and not so much that tire size.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with what everyone has posted above. Can it be mounted on a 15x6.5 wheel? Yes. Can that be mounted on an ITR? Yes, although it may or may not rub (more likely if your car has been lowered). Is that the best 15" size for an ITR? No, so if you're buying new tires, you may as well buy 195/55 or 205/50, both of which are a better fit. But if you're getting the tires for really cheap or free anyway - like if they already come on a set of wheels you're buying - then sure, go ahead and use 'em, but when you need to replace them, stick with 195/55 or 205/50. (I hate throwing out perfectly good tires, instead of using them up - and free tires rock!)

Are you sure about that width? I thought our stock wheels were only 6" wide.

That's true of our stock wheels. I'm not sure about which cars came with 15" steelies and what their widths were, but I can look it up. Do you know what car they came from?

Note - if you are measuring the width of the wheel yourself (rather than looking it up somewhere, or rather than seeing it stamped on the wheel), you must measure the width AT THE BEAD, where the tire edge mounts. This is narrower (usually by about one inch) than if you measured the width from the outer edge of one lip to the outer edge of the opposite lip. (The same thing is true if you need to measure to find out the diameter of a wheel.)

Maybe it's from an Element of something that may need wider wheels.

Another thing to worry about when putting ballons on is clearance to strut.
