whp w/ toda A spec?
im getting ready to purchase a jdm b18c-R in february..and originally I was going to run toda B specs originally. But I just saw a dyno sheet w/ A spec, at almost 200 whp w/ stock block.(of course it had higher compression via milled head and fully worked head), but bolt ons besides that. Anyone have the As on here, and what kind of numbers are u getting with them? please post mods/whp before and after. Thanks!

I would go with A Spec, or Skunk Stage 1's Before anything else with stock compression!
Just get a good header, Free flowing exhaust (2.5"), Good intake, And lots and lots of good tuning!

with all that work I think the jdm cams could come pretty close to that if not a ctr cam would.

Re: whp w/ toda A spec? (ALLMOTORDC2)
i am planning on using the Todas(either a or b spec) with a mugen 4 to 1 header, 2.5 inch carsound cat, and a 2.5 inch exhaust.( still debating which exhaust to get, dont really wanna blow 1300 on a hytech or smsp). they will be tuned of course, probably via hondata or ems. I searched and only found posts about the bspec. please keep the replys coming.

with headwork, bumped compression and lots of tuning u can make 200whp with these!!
just did my baseline today and playing with the fuel curve a lil i netted 174hp/122tq
this was with:
11.3 CR
toda A
skunk2 IM
arc chamber/m's filter with CAI
310s
toda 421
test pipe
tanabe exh
power fc
graphs/more specs to come

yea wasnt that great for baseline.....i still get the feeling somethings wrong underneath.....still gotta do a comp test
but looking from the AF its kinda wavy so there's plenty of work left to be done
as for easines of FC, it wasnt too bad.....wish i could datalog though

personally for what he's got that really sucks...there are guys with I/H/E and a v-afc tuned pushing close to 200 whp

Re: whp w/ toda A spec? (jdmspoonitr)
Back when I had A's I put down 176whp and like 128 torque. But I gained almost 15whp from 4000-7000rpms. Good solid mid range gains. I only gained like 3whp peak, but who's counting that. This was like Mugen CAI, JDM DC, and Tanabe full exhaust, no restrictions. If I had a FPR I think I would have gained a lot more. They were a good mild cam, you could not even tell they were in there.
I ended up wanting more power and went to Jun3's. I like them better so far. You can feel the difference.

when I had A's my peak was 182/130. Stock exhaust, Stock head, but had a mugen head gasket, kenji ecu, vafc, jdm dc4-1, aem cai. I gaines a nice amount of midrange. I am sure with an exhaust and some extensive cam gear tuning, I could have gotten more.

Re: whp w/ toda A spec? (S&P500ITR)
i made 200/140 back in the day. almost 210 uncorrected
I jsut tuned a car that made 190/130 on a fresh motor. i predict in a few thousand
miles it'll make 200 as well.

Re: whp w/ toda A spec?
I agree Spec A's should be a cam capable of more like around 200whp. I would think the engine package and/or tuning is wrong if an ITR motor was making under 190whp with Spec A's

#'s werent stunning, but i think you're assuming le is running a B18C-R motor, which he's not. he's got a GSR motor. and stock fuel rail cuz his AEM was leaking... with more tuning he should be in good shape.

Re: whp w/ toda A spec? (ajchen)
I just want to see the torque curve, who in the hell cares for the peak number, I've got less peak than when I had to Toda B's, but I have a whole hell of a lot more mid-range power now.

austin, take a look at my dyno graph post on this forum. u will notice that i had a lil bump on the lows but the mids werent all that great; i wish i can find my baseline from a few months back right before my car went under the knife so i can overlay and compare!!!
but u can see from the graph that there's still ALOT of work to be done. and quite honestly i was expecting a lil more for baseline but all in all i'm not disappointed

About the ARC box...the local tuner has seen several of them come throught and they've all lost hpp, but everyone likes the throttle response.
About the baseline runs....go to the shop and ask if they can give you the actual files from the run, then you can download the viewer from dynojet.com and do the comparisons without having to work in photoshop.

Re: whp w/ toda A spec? (jdmspoonitr)
I have I/H/E and Vafc. I expect 180-185 after tuning and that is being optimistic. Hopefully I have one of the stronger C5's.
If stock cams are making 180+ with i/h/e + tuning, i can't see why toda A's couldn't make 200 with good tuning....
