I'm not trying to defend a thief if the motor is indeed stolen but how do you know that motor is hot? Is the vin missing? (sorry, I own a k-series not a b-series). I'd love to believe that every civic with an R motor is for sure stolen but you never know there are people out there who have parter their wrecked R's. I wouldn't go around randomly accusing people of being thiefs just because they have something "cool".

It is missing the VIN, off the transmission case. Part of the top rivet is still there, which makes it look like a hasty removal as opposed to a clean one for aesthetics. Removing a VIN is illegal period as far as I know, though.

edit: in another post he said the trans is from a Civic Si

if it were a JDM R motor, this would be retarded. however, it is a supposedly a USDM R motor and if it were purchased legitimately, the VIN should stay on to have something to compare the documentation of purchase with. many Rs have been wrecked or recovered from theft and parted out for its usable parts.

the likelihood that the motor was stolen is extremely high, unfortunately.

Of course we could all be speculating and jumping to conclusions, but the biggest reason I believe its stolen is the missing VIN. It also has an Integra radiator and its funny that it has a different valve cover. The polished valve cover would be a good distraction to anyone quickly glancing at the engine bay, making them think its not an R motor, wouldnt it?
Are there any more pics of the car? Does it have 5 lug or Type R seats?

edit:I just checked the link and I didnt see 5 lug or seats, but I did notice how he covered his plates. Maybe he doesnt want his stuff getting stolen?

You're right, and that's the point that nightrider was making. He was replying to a now deleted post that called this a "retarded thread". He was saying it would be retarded if the motor in question was a JDM unit, which would have no VIN.

Alright, where did you get the motor? Did it come with paperwork?

I'll be the Curious George. There are too damn many stolen Rs for someone NOT to ask some questions.

Why would I? According to you I am already a thief or a thief supporter.

As far the motor goes..

The motor I got from a friend of mine who ownes a shop, it was an overreved engine with head damage, he got it for scrap fixed it up and sold it to me. Tranny is from an Si and I got it of ebay. Paperwork? Yes I have recipts for everything, what else should I get? Police report?

Why wouldn't you supply the VIN? (and why would you remove the VIN?)

If your contention is that you've been labaled a thief & therefore why should you supply the VIN, then why are you okay with typing out where you got the engine? Shouldn't you have the same excuse?

I have a hard time believing someone scrapped a B18C5 longblock because of head damage - which means what? Bent valves? Where did the original valve cover go?

I'm not point blank calling you a thief. However, even buying stolen goods makes you no better than a thief.

What's the shop's name?

Dude, I think you seriously need to just mind your own ******* business. It's his car, if his **** is stolen, leave it to the police to worry about that.

Of course, you could mind your's, I could mind mine, and so on and so forth.

Nicram's pictures raise red flags, and he posted them on the internet. It's open domain.

Bahahaha, I can post wherever I want buddy.

Is that your retort to the fact you are a nosey *****? You aren't a cop. You aren't a detective. In that other thread, you called him a ******* thief simply because you jumped to conclusions in your mind about it, and then (since this is honda-tech and all) everyone hopped on the bandwagon of calling this guy a thief, when none of you even know if he really is one or not, and even still if he IS, its still not your business to attend to.

God damn people sure do like to stir the **** on honda-tech

Do you really think that if he was a thief that stole that motor, he would actually be ignorant enough to post pictures on the internet of his stolen ****?

Thieves are pretty ******* stupid. They're also arrogant, and bound to slip up eventually. That said, I did not say this guy is the thief of this motor if it was stolen. He could be the buyer, which, like I said, would make him no better.

Anything else?

Oh yeah, and in your one month of being here I'm quite sure you know how EVERYTHING works on this site.

What did you think you were going to accomplish with this dumbass thread? OMGZ GUYZ, HE DOESN'T HAVE A VIN ON HIS TRANNY, HONDA TECH TO THE RESCUE! The only pics that you have are ones that he posted, you act like you have some kind of ground-shattering evidence on your hands.

So you know what? I guess you're right. I am on his side, for the sole reason that I think you are a stupid jackass that has no reason to be calling this guy a thief unless you actually have more evidence (ie, someone stepping up that is close to him saying their **** was stolen, someone that knows the guy saying he did it, etc.). Until then, stfu, because at this point you don't even have a case.
