What do you guys think about a supercharged ITR?

Re: What do you guys think about a supercharged ITR? (itrboi)
A supercharged ITR has its ups and downs. The torque is hellatious, hard to keep to the ground but great once you do get it to the ground. Power through every gear is nice but in 4th and 5th it loses some. The only problem is ITR compression is a little too high to utilize the superchargers full potential so you have a slight conflict between the supercharger and the compression. I used to have one on mine but then I got rid of it just cuz I wanted to go all motor. I miss it though. If done right it is one nasty set up

No problems here, Stock boost and I got 226/151 with a PMS. Still have plenty of tuning to go. Currently only at 8deg base timing and my peak duty cycles are low. But it drives great as a daily driver. Oh, cam gears actually got me an extra 9 ponies.
Nothing like a flat torque line errrr curve

N24RE,
I meant to ask you while we were at sport auto, what was so bad about the SC?
oh yeah, dont worry, many many track events will happen before i even consider any kind of major mods.

ross, what happened to you...97% and 5 posts? odd, are you the real ross?
anyhow i'd prefer to go turbo over supercharger anyday.
no, the compression is not too high, yes, it can be ran on the track.

Is a supercharged itr any good?
Superchargers (JRSC's) amplify and fill in the stock power band, more torque everywhere. That's good. All Hondas can use extra torque. They make way more heat than a PROPER turbo setup for any given boost, that's bad if you want to increase boost from supercharger in a high compression car. That's bad.
Fast? Of course!

I think I would be far mor inclined to go turbo if I had the $ to do an proper FI setup....

Re: What do you guys think about a supercharged ITR? (itrboi)
yeah sure a supercharged type R is good, HOWEVER, its only good if its installed correctly and is tuned correctly. Otherwise it will be a BIG waist of money. Trust me on that.
My supercharged R's power is 270whp and 170trq on 8psi with stock internals. However I know of many supercharged bone stock R's that hit 180-200whp which it totally normal for a stock supercharged type R with stock 6psi boost. Putting a Hondata type system on it and tuning it will make it 200whp.

Re: What do you guys think about a supercharged ITR? (Rboosted717)
stock boost = 5.5psi on the R kit, just to be exact.
AL, I thought you are running Jim's stepper pulley on ~8psi and not stock boost. I'm confused. That would be awesome power on 5.5psi. You have the Kami header, right?
Nothing can beat a turbo powered teg.

Re: What do you guys think about a supercharged ITR? (itrboi)
Ive heard very good and somewhat bad things about a super charger for an itr. I've seen one with a jackson supercharger and many other mods only runnin a low 14 but on the other hand ive seen another itr with a super charger run high 12's. It all depends on how you tune your car.

I'm at 8psi with Jim's pulley. I was using a GSR crank pulley, however I decided to go with Jim's since his is will keep weight off. But yeah 5.5psi is exact, however most gauges will just read it at 6psi.

that was probally me you saw running high 12's awhile back with the JDM front. I saw at around 220whp then. Now its 270whp and its high 11's now.

Re: What do you guys think about a supercharged ITR? (JohnBlaze911)
My JDM crank pulley is slightly smaller than the USDM R's crank pulley. So I did put on Jim's stepper. The boost gauge shows 6-6.5 psi and the PMS datalogging also confirms only 6 psi max. I will prolly change the blower pulley to a 4.0 in the near future or get a diff crank pulley. Right now I have plenty of power

Re: What do you guys think about a supercharged ITR? (AL)
Okay, maybe I'm too old school. I know with mustangs, when you hook up a supercharger, its highly recommend that you put in low compression pistons.
I would think it would be even more important to lower the compression on a ITR since its an aluminum engine with very high compression, and very high rpms.
no?
