Default Waxin the R

Just bought the R a month ago, so I'm still in the babying stage, and I'm tryin hard to keep her clean and beautiful So I was wondering what type/brand of wax you guys r using, and how often ur waxin? Did a search but didn't find much.

What do u guys think of Meguires Gold Class? I heard that Zymol and Zainol (not sure about the spelling ) are good brands, but can't get it out here in hillbilly country . Supposed to be available in Walmart, but they don't carry it out here. I was going to order Zymol wax, but not sure if it's worth the trouble and cash

I polish with Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze and wax with Meguiars #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax. Also clean the tires with Meguiars Rubber/Vinyl cleaner and protectant. I wax once a month and polish/wax every 6 months. Comes out looking like this pretty much after every wash. You can never have too many foam applicators and white terry cloth towels haha.

wow That's one good lookin R SurferX. I really like how the FBP colored R's shine. If I had a chioce, I would've bought a FBP R; but I live in Canada so it wasn't possible.

Do u use an electric buffer or do u use the old elbow grease to get that shine ?

i'll take some pix soon but over memorial day weekend i clayed my car w/ mother's clay kit, then put on a layer of meguiar's deep crystal paint cleaner, then the deep crystal polish, and finally i used the gold class clear coat car wax... it looks great. I highly reccomend you clay your car at least once a year, if you run your finger along the paint after you wash it and it doesn't feel as smooth as glass then your car would probably benefit from being clayed... it's a labor of love -rob

Actually it's NBP, and I do it by hand. My car was a mess the day I bought it new. The dealer totally sucks *** at washing cars I think they use steel wool or something. I brought it home filled with swirl marks but I took care of that.

I checked their too, but both locations didn't have it. Checked Can. Tire, and they didn't have it either But I'll try some of the polish that Surfer X uses.

So I bought the Meg Gold Class, and it seems to be OK but it's hard to be able to tell cuz it's CW and the paint on the car is in pretty good condition.

I used the Zaino on mine, the shine was the best I had ever seen and it lasted longer than anything else. You have to apply multiple coats to get the full effect, but they recently came out with ZFX, which accelerates drying time dramatically. Without the ZFX, you literally wait ALL DAY before applying the next coat. Check it out: http://www.zainobros.com I live in rural appalachia also, so I had to order direct from them.

Zymol is really really good. I am not talking about the pale green blue cleaner wax, but the the little 8 oz funny-lid jars and stuff.

Meguiars Gold Class is pretty much the best you can get from a store.

Zaino: highly involved, little effort, medium cost. The BEST.
Zymol: medium involved, more effort, high cost. Still stunning.
Meguiars: not complicated, low effort, low cost. If Zaino is the McLaren F1 of waxes, then Meguiars is the Corvette Z06.

SurferX, very clean R. I agree, Zymol is very expensive, but top quality. I heard great things about ZAINO Brothers. They are located here in New Jersey, but don't see any of their products on store shelves. I guess it's order only. I use Meguiars Gold Class soap and wax. Seems to do a pretty nice job. I have a Milano Red Si. I also picked up a tube of Meguiars Scratch "X" swirl remover. Helps get rid of those fine scratches/swirls that we all hate. Meguiars makes good "easy access" and affordable products. I also have some 3M compound and liquid wax that I've seen readily available. It also works pretty well. Good luck.

yeah i use the same stuff surferx uses...Meguiars is some of the best stuff for the money...mothers clay products are pretty good too. if you can find it...liqua gloss from mitoma is some of the greatest wax you can ever use...about 20 -21 bucks a bottle compared to Meguiars at 8 something. gold glass from Meguiars is cool, but i'd recommend their professional level without a doubt. believe it or not even cw paint can be highly reflective...just takes time and a lot of elbow grease damn waxing is a workout!!!

3M products are also good but require more effort then most. You had said that there are not that many produts availible in your area, could you list what you do have access to and we could give you ideas on which to use.

If you don't mind waiting for it then order the Zanio products (I don't know where to get from) then get from them. Probably the best company for a shine you will love.

I use the Meguire's products and alot of peeps really think that my car is super shinny and I allways get compliments.

PS be sure to clay your car, it will help you maintain the shine alot easier and will protect your paint better with out the need for a compound wheel (which should never be used on a car) Good luck!

If there are not many products in your area, then go here................... www.autosupermart.com

I highly recommend + 3M imperial hand glaze<-------best polish ever
+ Klasse sealant glaze<---------Awesome acrylic wax that can be layer and gets better w/ every layer(I usually apply a carnauba wax over 3-5 layers of this)
+ One grand Blitz wax <------Just an excellent wax for about $20
+ Pinnacle Souveran wax <-----about $60 but worth every penny
+ Pinnacle or mothers clay bar

Beatiful car man Mad props on the detail skills, keep up the good work

Thanks for the props. I don't even get to garage this baby, it's so painful. I do cover it though but with a cheap $30 autozone car cover. It's 3-layered and works well, I just need to fold my mirrors in so it can fit on the sides.

For those living in hot climates it's better to use a sealant like Klasse because carnuba wax has a low boiling point. Also as far as waxes are concerned, paste last much longer than liquid. I always use paste wax on my car, after a month it doesn't really NEED to be waxed, but I do it anyway.
