D16A6/SOHC ZC is definitely my favorite - a classic tuner engine that's simple, lightweight, strong, inexpensive, and has seemingly endless options for improvement. 37mpg and at least 115hp at the flywheel stock. Yes, I know Honda rated them at 105/108, but anyone who has run them regularly on a dyno knows differently. The non-VTEC D-series really comes alive with a hot cam and short gearing.

I totally forgot about this thread and I would agree to an extent. They are a bit old fashioned and being that they the j series are all still sohc engines. That is a weakness to this platform. However, we have all seen that a sohc engine can have the heads swapped for dohc units. Now that would really open up some doors for development, and that would really be interesting. With that said, I don't think the ceiling for development has been hit for the current j series platform and that is without going into the discussion of forced induction.

This should be obvious, the b16a!!!!!
After all it was the bench mark engine for the VTEC technology, and was the first DOHC VTEC engine.
The b16a with the new VTEC technology was put into production as a test before honda put all their eggs in one basket on the c30a for their new super car, the NSX.
The b16a started it all. First production 100hp per litre N/A engine.

LOL, I don't understand why some of you are posting up F1 designed engines. It's not like you've actually experienced the wrath of one.
I think this poll is pointed towards a daily drivable engine.
B16B, K20A2, B20B. Voting K20A2.
