Re: Updates on (ex-)Spoon Race Car - Refresh in Progress
Showa suspension Honda uses it on their race stuff and when rebuilt nothing touches them unless you spend double or triple the price. I have mine race valved to match the spring rates and shortened shock bodies with Hypercoil springs.

You mean the lower perches?
I'd be more concerned with the stock rubber in the top hats.

And check out the newer suspension set from Spoon. It looks almost identical to this SSG model:
Do you know how to read the markings on the springs? If not here's the breakdown:
65 - ID in mm
228 - Free length in mm, which is 9"
07 - Spring rate in kg/mm

Got a package from Mugen Japan
Freshly rebuilt N1 arrived!
For the rear shocks, since the marking on the adjustment at the top of the shaft was missing, I had to hand press the shafts in to figure out the softest and stiffest setting.

Re: Updates on (ex-)Spoon Race Car - Refresh in Progress
I found a website awhile back that had them all listed but thanks for explaining that. Those are the rears, the front are lot higher rate but dont remb right now and my car is at bodyshop. They ride very stiff/solid so couldn't immagine getting stiffer LOL

That paper even gives the wheel and tire setup, as well.
Some day I really owe it to myself to try such a setup and see if Japan knows something that we don't.

If they are "gymkhana spec", and by going by the photo that Wai posted, they are more than likely the 20kg front, 6kg rear. That's how JDM land rolls when it comes to autox.

Re: Updates on (ex-)Spoon Race Car - Refresh in Progress
Toe Front = 0mm
Toe Rear = 4mm in
Camber Front = -2' 30" (which is -2.5')
Camber Rear = -1' 32" (which is -2.533')
It also listed the corner weights. When I added them together seems like the car weighed less than 2100 lbs.

I'll try to dig up the thread.
*edit*
Found it!

I want to try a similar setup also.
I feel like the too stiff in the rear setup that I'm currently running (11k f / 16k r) just isn't ideal for rough / bumpy surfaces - which we have a lot of in our region.

Yeah it was also listed in the catalog that I posted:
Toe Front = 0mm
Toe Rear = 4mm in
Camber Front = -2' 30" (which is -2.5')
Camber Rear = -1' 32" (which is -1.533')

BTW: That seems like stock upper control arms w/ ride height at 1-finger gap (at least it is on my EG with 22.46" tires). Also that toe is factory spec too, just maxed out toe-in in the rear (spec is +2mm +2/-1)
