I wouldn't recommend a supercharger. For all the SC'd setups I've seen...there seems to be WAY too many tuning issues with the JRSC'd ITR.

That part doesn't exist. sorry.

You don't want to SC your R. there is one pretty quick one on here, but he's had so much work and $$ invested in it that it just doesn't seem worth it.

Here we go again...if superchargers suck so bad then why is rboosted on this board so happy with his setup? It did take awhile to tune but if you do exactly as he did with the same parts, I dont see why you cant have a car similar to his.

Either stay all motor or turbo. If you feel like having a car that you will work on all the time and have to spend a lot of money to get it running right go with a turbo set up.If you want something reliable and streetable stick with an all motor set up.

JRSC.

I didn't think a sc was good for ITRs either, but after driving ITR607's beast, I had a grin from ear to ear. His is a daily driven 98 and doesn't have any reliability problems.

For the same reason rboosted is about the only one with a supercharger (no disrespect to him his car is badas and stupid quick). The same reason hardly any cars come with factory superchargers. For the same reason most people here would rather spend 4k on NA ish than a supercharger. If you want to go that fast TURBO.

Edit:
I'm not saying they suck, they're just not the way to go for most. And homeboy should know what he's getting in to.

JRSC.
Yup, the jackson racing supercharger is pretty good. Rboosted Has like 240+whp and has made it into 12's!! If you plan on getting a SC, you should talk to him or go here http://www.geocities.com/superchargedtyper/. good luck

my jrsc was alot of fun for daily driving -- unfortunatly 230whp just wasnt cutting it...otherwise i would have kept it on...

I witnessed him at 260+ whp last week, this was on approx. 8-10psi(can't remember which) of boost...damn his car is a beast, and it's really just a simple formula when you get down to it...though it will cost you around $5-7000 for the parts, install, and tuning. Just send Mike(RBoosted717) an e-mail or an IM and he will give you the information that you need.

Please take a look at this post: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=106456

When you look at the dyno plot, please note that the current ECU program has as an incorrect vtec activation, normal activation occurs at 4500rpm.

bringing back an archived thread.. i've become interested in SCs for the type R having had one on my prelude i kinda miss it.

obviously the H22A4 and B18C5 are two different motors, but it was reliable, and definitely gave that extra power i wanted.

i never considered turbo, because of reliability issues, and i'm not a power maniac, cause i just don't need that much.

anyway, i was just looking for opinions on various SC kits for the ITR [i.e. Jackson, Vortech, and Procharger]

regardless of what's been said in this post, i still remain highly interested in purchasing a SC, so please keep the comments somewhat beneficial.

i have a blower on my R. i will never look back. gives the R exactly what it missed (well, it didn't really "miss" anything. i love mine. tuning was a total BREEZE with a hondata S200, so anyone that tells u different is not willing to invest a little common sense tuning time.

When choosing which supercharger to use on your car the main area you should look at is the charger design. Here's some links to give you a good idea:
http://www.turbocalculator.com....html
Info on Jackson style (roots blowers):
http://www.magnusonproducts.com/superchargers.htm

IMO I like the Jackson (roots) style blower because you get closest to the best of both worlds: low end power/trq and top end power. However with Vortec or Prochargers you tend to get a lag or mild low end power/trq and a very high (sudden) jump in power/trq high end. However roots style blowers have a large disadvantage, HEAT. However that problem could be fixed with a intercooler setup that a few people offer here on H-T.
I personally have never tried any form of cooling other then a cold air intake.
Here's a dynoplot of my type R with a Jackson Racing supercharger which was making 285whp and 196trq around this time last year:

My fastest quarter mile time was 12.5@114 with a 2.2 60ft and spinning my 22x8x15's like crazy and that was with only 260whp. With the power I make now my A032R's can loose traction in 5th gear when I punch it from the sudden surge in power. I feel that 280-290whp is the max one will be able to make with a roots blower without an air cooling setup. With an air cooling setup I think you could be able to make around 290-320whp or more if using nitrous to help cool.

Also with superchargers you tend to have lots of parts, pulleys, belts, brackets, etc... so this tends to make working on the car harder and longer in time. Also my results are not typical of a Jackson or roots style setup for a Honda/Acura. I've had many years of testing and tuning by the best in the business to get these results.

I love the jrsc.
The only problem is that heat limits how much power you can make. If we had a good, cheap intercooler option (no offense LHT), there would be a lot more 300whp jrsc cars on the road.

FYI, I broke the 200whp mark at 6psi with a 10.8:1CR jrsc b16.

Saying "superchargers suck" is the most uninformed, moronic phrase I've ever read on this site. Some of you need to understand what transient response is...8 psi on a supercharger than most of you can handle and will beat 90% of the cars on the road...
