Type R on Liability avg prices?
I always see Type R's on Full Coverage.. and it makes me wonder.. I know it sounds very scary for a type R.. but around how much is a Type R's insurance on Liability (dont wanna pay too much for something i already know will have small chances of being stolen in my ownership)? i know it all depends on age, location, insurance company.. blah blah blah... but i just wanted a rough estimate... i plan on getting one soon in the very near future.. but i already know that when i drive it.. its not leaving my sight and it will be a true garage queen.. i really doubt that thieves will get into the garage since they have to go through a very high fence and not to mention 3 evil dogs, motion sensors and my house/garage alarm (and people who come to check whenever the alarm goes off) as well before they even reach the inside of the garage.. if thieves do manage to steal the R out of the garage.. then they are too desperate and ill be impressed...
I do have a DD and i probably wont do much weekdays driving.. just weekends on the canyon cruises with my buddies

I don't know of anyone really ever posting about anything except for full coverage with their r's...no matter where I live I'd still ONLY have full coverage. I'd think twice before looking at liability with any seriousness...just my $.02

if your car ever gets stolen you'll regret not having it covered. you can get liability + theft for less than full coverage BTW

You'd be surprised how far thieves will go to steal an ITR. I'll admit you sound like you've at least spent some time researching the risks, and not daily driving it is a huge advantage. Although i don't recommend liability only, you sound like you might be ok if you use it for only what you say you are going to. I still like the saying better safe than sorry though. Good luck.

OMG!
In Vancouver, BC, Canada, for 0% discount (ie Brand new drivers) for full coverage up to 3 million liability (collision and comprehensive) it is $4,000 per year (over $300 per month).
If you are a clean driver (10+ years accident free) the most discount you can get is 43% which is still $2280/year ($190/month)
FML!

I'm not really sure why threads like these continue to appear considering that insurance rates aren't really comparable across different regions, countries, drivers, plans, etc. A "rough estimate" can be vastly different depending on a number of different factors as you can see by the numbers already discussed here.
The only way to determine what you will actually pay is to call around to various insurance companies for a rate quote.

You don't have to own the car to get rate quotes; you can get them now, for free, without owning the car. And it will be for YOUR location, age, driving record, etc.

Seriously, best thing you can do is check with one of those websites like nsxtasy posted. I've only heard a few people mention they had liability only. The chances their rates are similar to yours and they'll actually see this thread and chime-in are nil. Those people only chime in when their R is stolen and they're left holding their pud.
You gotta pay to play..
