Default TRUE/FALSE ***97-01 type-r with sunroof.***

Is is true that the integra type-r 97-01 had an option of a sunroof...is that true? if so, was it in the states, canada? Everywhere? Thanks!

BTW, this may be a repost...dunno, I'm a newbie!

It was NEVER a *factory* option on any ITR!

However, some dealers may have installed aftermarket sunroofs (i.e. ASC) which operate similarly to OEM units with power controls, glass sunroof panel, sliding sunshade, etc.

The trick is to look at a few things.
1. The sunroof seal. An OEM sunroof will have a felt-like seal which allows water to pass by. An aftermarket sunroof will have a rubber watertight seal

2. An OEM equipped sunroof car will have drains in the fraim of the car at the A&C pillars. This allow water which runs by the felt seal to exit the car and not end up in the interior. An after market sunroof will not (and cannot) do this and must have a rubber watertight seal to keep the car dry.

3. OEM sunroof generally sit flush with the roofline while aftermarket roof after stick up slightly because of the rubber seal and/or glass.

Not an option, but I've seen TWO R's in the chicago area with sunroofs.

Edit: good info right above my post.

it could have been a GSR or something converted into an R.

Good info tpper_801, and I have seen a few guys with the deal option sunroof here on HT. I honest wonder if that makes a noticable different in stiffness of the chassis. (which I wouldn't expect for daily driving.)

They weren't. They were R's with sunroofs.
It's not that hard to put in an aftermarket sunroof.

What I would give to order my R new again WITH a factory sun/moon roof

Last time I drove a car with a sun roof was 4 maybe 5 years ago. Missing it badly

How's that for a Integra RS? Would have fooled me, just as I have seen a PY ITR that was done very similar and could have fooled most (It started as a GSR so it had a sunroof).

Putting a sunroof in a real R is like putting Jenna Jameson in childrens movies.

No, Aussie ITR do not have the option of a sunroof.

only Gsi and VTiR have sun roof options.

Could be aftermarket.

This was not an option for a Type R. Also Honda/Acura do not have sunroofs, they have moonroofs.
