Well I'm here to set a FIRE, Prove that cutting the thin layer of tin off the roof effects handling. You can't. Simple.
End of conversation. Your words mean nothing w/o proof.
And I could careless about the handling of the car, I use it for everyday driving, when will I see the effects IF any? Never.
Here's the deal. I made my point of: it's my money, car and choice. Nothing else matters. You don't like it- Oh well. I was responding to the OP's post.

mang, you need to chill out, you're going to have a heart attack

^^ agreed.. I wouldn't put a sunroof in my itr. And I'd discourage anyone from doing so. But it's your car do what you want. I know I definately wouldn't buy an itr with a sunroof

Hacking up the roof </TD></TR></TABLE>\
WHY?!?!
I saw your post where you said, it's like putting a header and a catback. But the car can go back to stock form without anyone knowing.
You just put a hole in your roof!
Yes you can bring it back to stock, but the paint will be off, the car won't even handle the same.
Type R's don't need a sunroof any ways. No point in arguying, cause it's already done, but still wow!
Congrats for having guts to do so, but thumbs down for doing it... the car just lost A LOT in value...

but it gained in value to him. you can very easily replace that entire panel and it will be just as good as new.

And that's all that you should have said. Didn't your parents teach you that if you have nothing to good to say then say nothing?
All these comments- geeze...

Re:
The only way it will have worse handling is because the added weight will cause the center of gravity to be at a higher point of the car; it has nothing to do with the frame being structurally less rigid. If everyone was so worried about handling, then why not hack up the roof and in place mold a carbon fiber panel or aluminum panel like the Evo MR? Sunroofs do not hinder the structure the same way t-tops do. His car, his mods, his opinions. Give the guy a break and worry about what's in one's own garage.

yes. The panel is welded in no differently than from teh factory. Just depends on who does your welding.

Oh they did alright, but your parents clearly never told you, if it's perfect the way it is, don't TOUCH IT! lol
But like I said before, it takes guts to do that.
I have a hard time cutting a hole for a sidemarker, cause I know that's ruining it, yet you went and put a sunroof! Props man!
Just for the heck of it, is your car a clean title one?

But who is to say that I don't absolutely LOVE having a sun roof? I appreciate that so much. The car did not come with one, So I added it.
It's like you putting on a header and catback, Nothing wrong with stock, but you wanted to change it... So you did.
Get my point, all of you close minded people? ?</TD></TR></TABLE>
You can easily remove the header and catback and install the stock ones but once you cut a hole in your roof than that's it. You can't really do nothing about that

eek
I dont think it'll hurt the cars value.
What I do think it'll do is turn away potential buyers however. So while it might not necessarily sell for less, it will be harder to sell.
I know I for one would turn away from an ITR with a sunroof.

GarageKing is 100% right to me. He can do whatever the hell he wants to do to his car because it is HIS.
IMO I would never do it. I think it's too much work. Windows do the same thing just vertically.

Re: -Sunroof Install? DIY? (The Tech-1)
To those that post about resale value, get a clue. An automobile is not an investment.
Garage King, I don't know wtf you were thinking. I agree that it is your own car and you can do what you want but GAWD DAMN. If I ever see you I will slap some sense into you.
