Sorry to hear, But maybe you shouldn't have declared the Roll cage, maybe they wouldnt even insure ya if they had seen it, or did they know u had it? it seams risky business to me!
Good luck with the check and replacing your baby!

Re: Stolen - Boston
The insurance company has moved from $7800 to $10000. I'm still fighting for more. I'm not sure I'll be seeing any multi-thousand dollar movements, however.

Well it's quite the improvement. Since it's a 98' I doubt they'd go much higher. I've never really seen an insurance company pay for mods of any kind. Good luck completing the settlement!

Re: Stolen - Boston
They claim to have "local market data" supporting their pricing. I've asked them to mail me their data. They've got a byzyntine system for depreciating audio equipment. Like 10% depreciation per year. And if it's not located in the "factory" specific location, they have a cap on how much you can claim.
Note to others: Beware! Metropolitan is not a great insurance company for stuff like this.

Very few of them are great.. Rare cars like this make their depreciation/value algorithms melt down so they go with what they have. Most of the people in the claims area know little about collector cars or rare cars of nonstandard value.

When my last Integra was totaled, they compensated me for the freshly rebuilt engine and the aftermarket parts I used including suspension. The appraiser I dealt with was very knowledgeable.
They did charge me 1500 to buy the car back though.

Just to throw this out there, I've been more than pleased with USAA. They have compensated me for every penny I could provide a receipt for, all 3 of the times my Audio Equipment was stolen.

Again OP good luck with the sharks! I sure hope they do their research and see how rare 97's really are. I saw posts where 2 97's were jacked in Portland this year alone. It makes my blood boil! Good luck!

Re: Stolen - Boston
There's a group of people in Sandown NH that have been taking out a Honda everyday for the past month it seems now. They've gone into MA before. They've been putting the cars on flatbeds and stripping them out at a bodyshop. Unfortunately the authorities haven't been able to stick them yet.
I have a friend who passes that way 2-3 times a week, I'll ask him if he see's anything that might resemble your car.
Probably not them, but worth a look.

Re: Stolen - Boston
What you need to do is get your car appraised by a professional apprasier. That way the insurance company can't bully you around.
10k is a pretty horrible offer.

Re: Stolen - Boston
Should have insured it with a declared value policy if you were concerned with getting reimbursment for modifications and/or highten"collectable" value of your vehicle. I never understand why people think that they can insure a vehicle under a normal policy, pay the same rates as others w/o modifications, then act like the insurance company is sticking it to them when they dont want to pay for modifications. On a modern production car like the integra R, they are going to handle your claim like any other loss. Look up the value on the valuation source they use and handle the claim off of that. If you think you have a clean 97 R w/mods that is worth $15000 dollars and the KBB says a 97 R is woth $9700, you better purchase a stated value policy-otherwise the insurance co is just paying you what they feel they owe based on the premiums you pay and the value of the vehicle. They may rasie the offer a bit depending how well you can prove "market" value for a similar vehicle, but dont expect big jumps or money for mods.
