My deepest sympathy on your dads passing as i know exactly what its like... I lost my dad in August 2000 to cancer also, he was 58yrs old. He had much the same attitude as your dad, he thought i was mad spending so much money on my cars but at the same time always said to me to get/do what i wanted and not what someone else thought i should do. I miss him dearly everyday.
Its a hard price to pay to have somewhere now to keep your R, but your dad would have wanted you to keep it as he knew how much it meant to you.
Stay safe and well and be strong.

Sorry to hear man.
I don't know about you guys, but lately, I've been hearing a lot of news of people passing away this year. Most of the people, I already know of.
It's all good though, smile with the memories.
Rest in Paradise.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Dr Pooface »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Last week my father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from lung and liver cancer. He was a heavy smoker from the age of 13 to 37, and then picked up cigars when he was 50. He got cancer for his 61st birthday, and died 25 days later. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
As some of you may know I've been trying to sell my turbo ITR fro over 6 months now. My original reason for selling was that I was just tired of driving a loud, smelly, stiff, uncomfortable rocket every day. It didn't matter how fast it was. I'm also entering into a more "professional" era of my working life and needed something a little more classy. And then this 95 M3 came along at a price I couldn't resist so then all of a sudden I had two cars. I live in a 600 square foot apartment with one parking spot, so after a couple months it dawned on me that it was just not feasible for me to own both.
I used to have to work on the R in my Dad's driveway. He really enjoyed having me around, he used to sit up on the porch with his cigar and rum and heckle me. He'd pretend he was Paul Sr fom American chopper, "So, you're here for another episode of 'Canadian Driveway', huh?". He thought the ITR was a foolish waste of money, but at the same time he truly understood what the car meant to me. I don't know about you guys, but that is a pretty rare characteristic in the people in my life. And now the house and driveway are mine, with a garage to go along with them.
So I'm going to keep the R. I'm going to park it in the garage and bring it out to run down exotics in DE's and maybe next year I'll throw a proper cage in it and go racing. And when it breaks I'm going to put a glass of rum on the porch and get down on my back in the driveway and fix it.
Peace.</TD></TR></TABLE>
You have my condolences. May your father rest in peace.
Definetly keep the R! I'm sure it's what your Pop would wan't you to do.

Know I'm a couple days late but sorry to hear about your dad, it sounds like you guys had a great relationship. I really like your plans for the car and remembering your dad. I'm absolutely sure he will be looking down on you when you're out in the driveway working on it

Re: Some days are better than others. (Dr Pooface)
Dylan, I'm sorry to hear this.
Losing your pops is an inevitible tragedy for many of us. It's not easy, and it's not fair, but all we can do is be sure to spend time with them. Just be happy that you were able to spend quality time with him before he passed, and although he may or may not have said anything, I bet he was happy that you turned out to be a good man.
RIP.
