Default Some days are better than others.

Last week my father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from lung and liver cancer. He was a heavy smoker from the age of 13 to 37, and then picked up cigars when he was 50. He got cancer for his 61st birthday, and died 25 days later. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

As some of you may know I've been trying to sell my turbo ITR fro over 6 months now. My original reason for selling was that I was just tired of driving a loud, smelly, stiff, uncomfortable rocket every day. It didn't matter how fast it was. I'm also entering into a more "professional" era of my working life and needed something a little more classy. And then this 95 M3 came along at a price I couldn't resist so then all of a sudden I had two cars. I live in a 600 square foot apartment with one parking spot, so after a couple months it dawned on me that it was just not feasible for me to own both.

I used to have to work on the R in my Dad's driveway. He really enjoyed having me around, he used to sit up on the porch with his cigar and rum and heckle me. He'd pretend he was Paul Sr fom American chopper, "So, you're here for another episode of 'Canadian Driveway', huh?". He thought the ITR was a foolish waste of money, but at the same time he truly understood what the car meant to me. I don't know about you guys, but that is a pretty rare characteristic in the people in my life. And now the house and driveway are mine, with a garage to go along with them.

So I'm going to keep the R. I'm going to park it in the garage and bring it out to run down exotics in DE's and maybe next year I'll throw a proper cage in it and go racing. And when it breaks I'm going to put a glass of rum on the porch and get down on my back in the driveway and fix it.

Peace.

Sorry to hear about your loss, but as long as you never forget him, he will always be there to heckle you in your many "Canadian Driveway" episodes!!!!

Condolences for you Dad, but on everything else.

Years ago (decades really), when I told my parents I wanted to "race" my dad was all set to help design a car from scratch (he was that kind of guy), whereas my mom said pretty much over her dead body. LOL!

Dad passed away years ago, the CRX and parts are still at her place and I too live in a small appartment ~300 miles away.

Life goes on ... Ed

I'm sorry to hear about your father's passing. At least he'll always live on in your memories.

I've been there. My own father passed away four years ago.

Sorry to hear that, my condolences. It's good you got your father's house and can keep the R. Working on the R there will help keep your memories of him fresh. Best of luck in the coming weeks, months, and years.

sorry to hear about your dad. may he rest in peace. its comforting to know the itr can remind you of him in some way because it is the same for me. there is NO WAY 6 years ago i wouldve passed on my peanuts credit if my dad didnt sign that co-sign paper at the dealership when i bought by R. i wouldnt have been able to get my car if it wasnt for him and his being an understanding father...i was going on my third car in less than a year but he still didnt give me a bad time, even though he could have...he knew what this last yellow caR meant to me.

good dads in the world

I just went through this last year and lost both parents effectively i am an orphan these days with no siblings. I know how it feels to be standing out all alone. I wish you all the best and hope things work out for you.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Glad to hear you're keeping the R. I hope it ends up in your garage, under a cover in 20 years so you can work on it with your kids too

extremely sorry for your loss man. It would be hard for me to get rid of the R under those circumstances as well. Anytime you are out there wrenching on it, you know hes right there with you. If you didnt have the R, wrenching just wouldnt be the same.

my condolences, and best of luck
