Default Review: Action clutch and Fidanza flywheel.

Well I finally got my clutch broken in. My review is as follows.

The Setup: Action Kevlar clutch disk with single diaphram pressure plate and Fidanza aluminum 7.5lb flywheel.

My car and reasons for picking this setup: I drive bolt-on ITR. I intend to keep it all motor with an eventual goal of around 220whp. My short term goal for the next two years or so is 200whp which should be achieved soon with a mild set of cams. It is very daily driven car with my averaging about 30,000mi a year. I was very happy with the stock unit (53,000mi with over 200 high rpm drag passes and several autox events) and wanted something with the same feel. I mainly wanted..

1. Stock or close to stock pedal pressure.
2. Smooth engagement.
3. Good grabbing power.
4. Quality.

Why did you go with Kevlar? The answer is because in comparison Organic absolutely sucks for racing use. Kevlar will last a very very long time, is super easy on the flywheel, and has good grabbing power. The only real downside is that it is more expensive.

How do you like it? So far it is exactly what I wanted. The pedal pressure is, dare I say, even softer than stock. Engagement is silky smooth and the clutch bites nicely when going through the gears. As long as it can hold up to 7,000rpm launches better than the stock unit it is perfect.

Why did you get the Fidanza flywheel? I basically got it because it is one of the lighter models offered and SGT told me to.

Are you scared because it is aluminum? No because it doesn't matter.

How do you like it? I am in shock of how streetable it actually is. You have to ride the clutch a tad more but its not really noticable. I shift fast enough in normal driving that the revs dropping faster isn't an issue either. The great thing about it is that my car now revs like a freak and rev matching is that much faster. The car is also noticeable more peppy in 1st and 2nd gear. I'm not really expecting big gains in 1/4mi time but the improved responsiveness will be welcomed at auto-x and future track events.

Bottom line: My car now has a way better than stock clutch and ultra light flywheel with almost no negative side effects.

Action-
Fidanza-

Someone said Fidanza makes the AL Comptech ones.

I called Fidanza a few weeks ago and they recommended Titian Motorsports (find the site yourself by adding .com)

I agree, I absolutely loved my Action stage 1KS(Kevlar) clutch kit that I had in my 99GSR before slamming it into a PowerPole a couple months ago , but it will live again soon , enjoy

I am pretty sure the Fidanza and Comptech flywheels are made by different companies, since they weigh different amounts, 7 lbs vs. 7.5 lbs, have different surface finishes, and are slightly different in design.

Clutchmasters does use a Fidanza flywheels though.

I have a Fidanza one and I chose it b/c the Comptech is ridiculously more expensive, ~450 shipped vs. 270 shipped for the Fidanza from hondadriven on gb.

I actually have a simliar set up on my B18B civic.. STAGE 1KS clutch w/ CM flywheel(7.5lbs) and all I can say is it's a beautiful combo and have no problems what so ever.. only problem I see is that if I actually take off to quick from the light I can light up the tires.. I guess it's time to drop the TOYO FZ4s for some real tires =P 10k miles so far on the setup and I can only give action a
