I'm sure mine will get stolen at some point...I hope it doesn't though. I do have full coverage as peace of mind. It's annoying to have to always be on full alert.

To the OP:
Your theory on "law of attraction" is invalid. You cannot ignore facts. It is a fact that an ITR will get stolen whether you think about it or not. I'm sure you've heard stories about thieves breaking into peoples garages, etc. Despite where you live, how can you not think about your car getting stolen? Yes we (ITR Community) are paranoid because we know that an ITR is one of the most sought after cars by thieves.

Good woman, sounds just like my wife. I really think thieves would rather deal with me than her. She's got a short fuse when it comes to the R.

invalid.. lol
i'm pretty sure "law of attraction " is how i got my ITR at the first place.
i wanted an itr since 97-98. i wanted the car soooo bad. i watched videos about itrs, read up on them, search them on internet all day. type r this type r that for few years. i wanted the car so bad i had a dream about driving the crap out of it.
and after dreaming about it for few years finally got one in 2001.
if i never thought about getting an itr how would i ever get one?
so one day you would just wake up and decide to go get an itr? i bet you were thinking about getting the itr first. before you actually went and got one. its the thought that makes things happen.
isnt that part of "law of attraction"?
ever since i got my dream car i didnt want any other car. so i still have heR
if you want something real bad. you will get it one day. like everyone here did

Although my car has been down for nearly 5 years, I sometimes dread getting her back running with the theft rate worse than it's ever been. Paranoid, no. Overly careful, yes. I know with a car that's screaming yellow it's going to get noticed no matter what. I will never take it to the mall, movies, etc. If I can't keep in my sight then it'll stay hidden.

Dude seriously. This is not "I dream of Jeannie" or "Bewitched". This is real life in our f*cked up country, that is still less f*cked up than a whole lot of other places on earth.

In the US, regardless of race, color, creed, religous beliefs, familial status, and/or personal lifestyle choices. A person (any person) with a sliver of work ethic, and, some drive can achieve things that are an impossibility to people in lots of other places in the world. Even as the media ****'s gab about the "great recession".

Your ITR didn't appear in your driveway with a "bewitched" twich of the nose. You projected it, and, manifested it. Which means you wanted it, researched it, lusted after it, and, found a way to get it. Welcome to the realities of a capitalist democracy, for better or for worse.

In my opinion, as i'm not an R owner. It's great to have a positive "my cars not gonna get stolen" attitude. But it won't deter thieves. Mostly it has to do with how high vehicle theft is in your area. And how rare the car is for the area you live.

I'm in EBF NH and the rarest car here is a 2002 silver nsx and a 99 bright yellow viper. Both are usually left outside during the summer. Once a few years back the nsx was actually left in our company parking lot over night no other cars around, and in a dark area. nothing happened.

My biggest concern with potentially owning an ITR is the hassle i've read most people going through after it's either been in an accident or stolen! it takes weeks to months to get any kinda of decent money from Insurance. Long days/nights searching for adds for values of compareable ITRs forsale and endless paper work. I think it's more the hassle and grief of what you'd have to go through after an accident or theft vs thinking about it happening.

They are just cars...get over it...

last year when i went to Dave_B's out in SC, i left my R at the airport parking for 3-4 days. i didn't have any issues. in the 5 yrs i owned it, only had one incident. left it over the weekend somewhere here intown, got back to it, someone tried to pry the dvr side door handle out, alarm went off, and scared them off. if someone wants it, it doesn't matter how secure it is.

i DD'd mine and parked outside, i know there are others that DD them, you just have to be aware of your surroundings, becomes second nature.

It's still scary how organized these low lifes are, the extent they go to using so much energy to steal someones car.
I wonder how long it will be (if ever) before ITR's are not such a hot item on the theft market.
It's to the point now I'd be afraid of going to the strip or large car meets just because you never know what piece of crap is trolling for something to tip his thug buddies on who has what and where to get it.

never. unless they recall everything that was ever put on a Type R thereby making the parts worthless and useless.

so long as there are people who cant work for their money, there will be theft of anything. it's a shame the Type R is the best FWD we have in America and most of the thieves are looking to make their EG hatch run 12's.

I understand where the OP is coming from 100%. I am a psychology major and have read many books about the Law of Attraction and I have to say I do agree with it. If you leave your ITR running all night with the windows down and go to sleep and think it's not going to get stolen it probably will, negative thoughts attract negative things, but your thoughts don't control the world around you, just the small world you're living in inside your mind. Know what you don't want, know what you want, feel it, live it, and that's basically it.

Your thoughts control your actions therefore you won't park your car where it's going to get stolen, it's so argumentitive and you have to be a strong believer to follow it, but there is some logic to it t hat any rational, reasonable person will be able to understand.

but i think it's true.

my action was to get an itr. before i got it i thought about getting it. ALOT
it all has to start in your mind first.
nobody can make you to get an itr when u never thought about it or if you never wanted it.

so how do you explain the feeling of wanting it?
so u went and got a car. why does it have to be an itr?
why not a civic.. or bmw, ? toyota? why the ITR?
cuz you wanted that. so what make you want something?
a thought..

i actually wanted a CTR. but that wasn't "legal" so the ITR was the alternative. dream is to own an EK9 and NA2 NSX-R (along with my current R) before I die. ATR would also spice things up as a DD.

My next major car will be a GT3, but that won't be for many many years. I have to finish my masters and support the lady through her next 6 years of school. But it's an awesome goal to shoot for in the meantime.

I get where you guys are going with the Psych thing but its all based on Location IMO.. if you ran into the wrong person or that wrong person ran into you at the right time then bye bye goes your R. Trust me.

I live in a fairly small & quiet town. My car is garaged all the time. I drive it every day. My car is still in my Garage right now.

My friend lives in a big town. His car garaged every day. Much much much much more security than mine. His R is no longer in his garage today.

His house was broken into, some obvious stuff was stolen (tv,dvd,ps3,etc) and whoever that broke into the house must know what an R is since they ripped apart his room looking for the keys to his R and stole it.
