OEM JDM ITR HID, light comes on then off..
Yo guys, I know some of you may either know or have had similar experience with this. When I turn on my headlights the driver side turns on then off right away. Before it got to this point it would flicker a bit when driving, then it would shut off.
I used to be able to turn it on then off a few times and it would stay on again. That ship's done sailed though and now it just turns on and off. I bought new D2S bulbs thinking it was this but it still does it!
I hate thinking it's the ballast. What alternatives are there when this happens? I'm not too excited with thinking I need to buy new headlights. Is there anything else it would be beside the ballast? If it is, what are the options without getting new headlights?
It's shitty because even finding one headlight would be few and far between. I ain't tryin to do that anyways.
(They're JDM DC2R HID btw)

Well I took the entire headlight off, plugged it into the passenger side, and it still did the same thing. I'm convinced it's something with the headlight cause the passenger side works fine.
Like I said I also tested the bulbs and the one that was acting up worked fine when plugged into the passenger side headlight. This sucks I need a solution...

Hmm I already been contemplating it. I'm just not sure about how it would work, or what kinda ballast I could use.

Yeah that means the entire assembly was removed. Was that set you installed doing the same thing? Have one headlight turn on then off right away? Like I said the passenger side stays on fine. I looked at the grounds and they seem on there good. Which one by the lamp assy do you mention?

The OP said the left headlight was still having problems when he plugged it into the right plug, so I don't think it's the ground. If you want to be absolutely sure, test the right headlight in the left plug.
Anyway, it sounds like the ballast. I would suggest measuring how big the ballast enclosure is and then finding a new one that fits within it.
