Default JDM headlights with aftermarket HID kit. Questions

I recently installed my jdm front end with the non HID headlights. I plan on buying a set of HID's for them. Before I begin to rewire, I have a couple of questions. I was told that I should purchase a set of HID's with ballasts that were made for the USDM front end, and get bulbs for the JDM headlights. With that setup, I would not have to rewire the headlight setup. Is that true? Anyone have any advice on what I should do, or any info on how to wire the JDM headlights with aftermarket HID's. Thanks.

if you were going to buy the oem HID then they wont fit your headlight unless you buy the oem HID headlight assembly , but if your short on funds then get the ebay hid kits, they are pretty cheap and your bulb size will be a 9006.

putting a hid kit on a oem jdm non hid is ugly IMO, the cut off is ugly. you have to do alot of adjusting. good luck if you do

It isn`t that ugly.

Just buy 9006 HID kit, install it and you`ll be fine. If it is too high just take a screwdriver and adjust it a bit.

i had that kind of set up before i finally invested on the real JDM HID headlights assembly...you're much better off buying the real hid headlight assemblies...i have people flashing their high beams at me all the time even when i aimed the beams low because there's no cutoff lines or anything...the beams look like it was from a reflectors headlamp instead of a projectors...just my 2 cents

No it's not, and you don't have to do a lot of adjusting.
The OEM projector in those non-HID headlights are pretty good for aftermarket HID setups. The cut-off is pretty clean with only 1 hot spot on each light.

Why doesn't anyone seem to understand that HID kits vs a HID retrofit or a car that comes equipped with HIDs are two completely different things.

The projector makes all of the difference, it doesn't matter what fuggin color bulbs you use. A projector designed for a halogen based bulb such as the DC2 isn't going to yield the same results as a projector designed for an HID bulb.

Yes... you are getting the look, but surely not the function.

What i was asking though was do I need to but a kit for a usdm ITR, or a kit for the headlights? Trying to figure out what I need to do the get the headlights wired up. Thanks for all the input.

A spot where the lighting is brighter than the other areas.
