JDM 96-spec rear brake to USDM/98-spec
UPDATE: This thread has all the info for converting a 96-spec ITR to 98-spec/USDM ITR calipers/rotors in this thread, front and rear. I'm leaving the original post below, but the information needed is on the first 2 pages. In short...
Front
- 4G Prelude VTEC rotor
- 25T Prelude Front bracket or 23T ITR Front brakcket (23T requires shims to clear rotor, 25T does not)
- ITR 98-spec, Prelude VTEC, Legend, NSX, etc. calipers
Rear
- 93 Accord rotor rear
- 98-spec rear calipers and brackets
I've searched, found some information, and it has not yielded the proper result yet. Here's the problem...
- 4x114.3 JDM 96-spec rears
- want to convert it to 98-spec/USDM ITR size in the rear with the 14s rear calipers
- what bracket is needed to do this?
- I have a Prelude rear rotor that seems to be the right size?
I know that 98+ ITRs had a different rear caliper bracket than the 97 ITR. I believe I have what is considered to be a 98 ITR bracket (was not a 98 ITR bracket but instead an Accord V6), and the bolt spacing to the hub is not correct.
Does anyone have any measurements of a 97 ITR rear caliper bracket?
Or...does anyone know for sure what works?
PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR PICTURES, THANKS!

95-97 JDM ITR uses same smaller design brakes as GSR USDM
98 up JDM spec is bigger in brakes also rear, they are same as V6 Accord USDM

Rishiras: I know that already. The question is, what parts are needed to make the rear the same size as the 98-spec rear while maintaining the 4x114.3 lug pattern.

Re: JDM 96-spec rear brake to USDM/98-spec
I'm going to post some detailed pics as soon as I can. Hopefully that will clear up what I'm asking. The most important is what bracket is needed. I've tried a 98+, and the bolt spacing was wrong.

Better yet, can you measure the bolt spacing for that bracket? Thanks a ton, I mean that.

no pics but I just reread this, your 98+ itr caliper bracket doesn't bolt to your 4x114.3 rear spindle, something is wrong because mine does. Are you sure you dont have a 97, or something else?

you snuck that in there on me, I dont think the prelude rotor is the same, iirc. I can get yo whatever you need, measurments, casting numbers ect.

Whatever you have will be GREATLY appreciated, and I mean that.
I'm not 100% sure my bracket is ITR as it's used, from a good friend, off a V6 Accord, which I thought would be the same for that particular year. It's definitely 14 rear caliper, so I know that part works for test fitting.
Whatever measurements you can provide, in particular, bolt spacing for rear calipers, rear caliper stamps (14s is the key), and rotor diameter and how deep (Prelude and Accord will most likely be the same), will be a HUGE help.

Also, I can take pics of what I have, and you can comment on those in any way that will help.

Re: JDM 96-spec rear brake to USDM/98-spec
will do towmorrow after work, the accord caliper is different but kinda works, same casting number though. The bracket is different. I have a eg with 5x114.3 and one with 4x114.3. The accord rotor is the same size as a itr just 1mm thicker but it still works.
front itr calipers, rear itr calipers, front prelude rotors and rear accord rotors. Same size setup as a 5 lug and you can acually buy the parts locally.

Thanks highroller, I look forward to that update. That is my goal. I have the fronts ready to go, but the rears seem to be a nightmare.

Re: JDM 96-spec rear brake to USDM/98-spec
Ok, here we go, pictures of the rear brake situation...
The old rotor vs new rotor (4G Prelude)
Original 96-spec ITR bracket, 10cm spacing between bolts (hub)
Same 96-spec ITR bracket, 11 cm spacing for caliper bolts
Different bracket I have, supposed to be from an Accord V6. Uses same rear caliper as USDM ITR/98-spec, not sure if bracket is same.
Bolt spacing (hub) for said bracket, roughly 85mm
Original 96-spec rear caliper 13S stamp
Larger 14s rear caliper, USDM ITR, V6 Accord, Prelude, etc.
Both calipers have the same bolt spacing.
I need to find a caliper bracket that will allow me to use the larger calipers and rotors with the proper 10 cm spacing for the hub instead of 8.5 cm.
......
Front 96-spec upgrades (just for reference here)
4G Prelude VTEC rotor, NSX calipers, 25T brackets instead of 23T. No washers needed, but might have some clearance issues with some wheels (3 mm spacer might be required).
Clears....

I have been told that the 98 spec bracket it required yes. I'm trying to do the same swap but seem to be having trouble finding the bracket.

Re: JDM 96-spec rear brake to USDM/98-spec
93 Accord rear rotor specs (according to NAPA)
# of Bolt Holes : 4
Bolt Circle Diameter : 4.5"
Brake Rotor Diameter : 10.22"
Brake Rotor Discard Thickness : .32"
Brake Rotor Thickness New : .39"
Brake Rotor Type : Disc Brake Rotor Only
Center Hole Diameter : 2.53"
Height : 1.91"
Maximum Lateral Runout : .002"
Prelude rear rotor specs
# of Bolt Holes : 4
Bolt Circle Diameter : 4.5"
Brake Rotor Diameter : 10.21"
Brake Rotor Discard Thickness : .32"
Brake Rotor Thickness New : .39"
Brake Rotor Type : Disc Brake Rotor Only-High Performance
Center Hole Diameter : 2.53"
Height : 1.69"
Maximum Lateral Runout : .002"
...
Only real difference is height. That would bring the Accord rotor inside a bit more than the Prelude rotor, which makes some sense. Even though the above bracket I have is the wrong bolt spacing, it definitely accommodates a rotor that would be more inward.
Just sharing some more info...might pick up one of these rotors to compare.

I dont have time to get you guys the info now, I took on another construction job on top of my full time job BUT the 98+ itr caliper&bracket, accord rotor and 4x114.3 spindle/hub works. I dont post **** unless I have done it and know for sure.

Re: JDM 96-spec rear brake to USDM/98-spec
Per the Accord rotor info...now I just need to find a 98+ ITR bracket to test fit everything. I will take pictures, and maybe we can finally have a formal write-up on here. Thanks again, highroller.
Prelude Rotor on left, 93 Accord Rotor on right. The diameter is the same. I can take a better picture, but they lined up identically on almost every dimension.
However, the hat height was different, as can be seen in this image.
