ITR piston to head clearance question
I been searching & searching cant find anything on my question / I want to put 12.0:1 compression pistons with a Mugen head gasket that rasies comp .4 points, but i want to know if anyone has done this without any other mods like modifying the head or bore?
Will piston to head clearance be an issue?
Please I need an answer quick been searching google, itr forums, honda-tech, honda swap & the whole dam internet & cant find anything.

Your main concern should be piston to valve clearance.
Is your piston dome between 6.5cc to 7.0cc?
If so, I don't particularly see an issue with them and stock ITR cams.
If you want to know for sure, the only way to find out is by using clay to measure your clearances. Best of luck.

Depends on the piston to deck height and head you're using.
I would measure the piston to deck height @ TDC first to see if you're in the hole or out.
If you're using a PR3 head, which doesn't have he quench pads, like the P72 head, then you have less to worry about as long as the piston isn't sticking out of the hole.
I'm not sure how much clearance you need for the max. RPM you need; I would ask an engine builder you trust for a target static value.

IIRC you want 0.035" minimum if you clay it. That would be for the P2V.

Well its a full 96 ITR engine / idk about cc's or these numbers you guys are explaining to me & some one told me today that If i want to put pistons that i would have to get the crank rebalanced for the new pistons or i will have oil pressure issue's. Is this true?

Yes I am looks fairly simple to me / Done it before so shouldn't be a problem, I just want to be certain that i can put a little bit higher compression pistons on my stock ITR engine, Am pretty sure someone has done this before......

I think am just going install 264/259 cams from blocks they are the biggest cams that you can install without needing stiffer springs than the original springs. I was going to install supertech 11.6:1 pistons but its getting to expensive with the cams also & it would not make sense if id install those higher comp pistons & leave the stock ITR cams.

Well, building engines is with out a doubt expensive; especially if you are going to do it yourself. There is(in my opinion) a learning curve if you haven't gone to school for it. You almost have to blow a few up before you come to terms with the fact that you need to invest in some relatively expensive tools to do it right or just pay a professional to do it. There is a lot to it, way more than I want to explain. I'm no expert and I didn't go to school for it, I've just blown up enough of em to learn what works and what doesn't for my own peticular circumstances. If you decide to do it yourself I really recommend you read and watch as many videos as you can on it, especially if it has to work the first time. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

Thanks for the info / but to keep it on the low budget side am just going to do blox stage 1 cams, that require no extra valve train & also going to just run the stock itr pistons for now.
