Re: http://jdmexchangeusa.com/shop/ CKECK IT OUT
I had a friend that was shipping GTR's to Alaska and Puerto Rico to get them registered. Once there he would ship them here to NV as they would honor these other places previous inspections (or lack there of). That is until NV suddenly decided NOT to honor them any more. He lost a few thousand trying to bring the last couple cars here only to be turned away. I don't know what ended up happening to those cars...

Legalization – a vehicle in full compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, and Environmental Protection Agency standards.
Registration - registration is the responsibility of the individual states and localities. Most states do not check to see wether a vehicle is federally legal. If they see the vehicle, and are paid the registration fees, they will give registration for the vehicle.
Many people seem to get confused that if a vehicle is registered, that it is legal or "legalized". A registered vehicle is just a registered vehicle. Registration could still be revoked by the DOT, EPA, or customs service, if the vehicle was found to have entered into the country fraudulently.

I was looking into bringing a car over a couple years ago, and I eventually got in contact with a fellow over at the NHTSA, he gave me the list of all the legal Hondas in the US imported by third parties. There was two. Both were early 80's CVCC Civics that were brought over for testing by some resaerch company in Texas. The company had to crash test three in order to satisfy NHTSA standards.
I asked him what could happen if I titled a car to get a VIN without getting EPA/NHTSA approval, he told me that if I am driving the car illegally in the country, and for some reason get pulled over/found/questioned during emissions etc, the car could be impounded on spot, and sent to the crusher. The kicker, I would be sent the bill for the process.
Moral of the story, if you have a RHD car right now, it is illegal unless the company has NHTSA/EPA documents saying otherwise, regardless if it has a VIN or not. If you buy from a company like this, just think about what would happen to your car if someone reported this business to the EPA as an illegal reseller of imported vehicles... Subpeona for all bills of sale, a few weeks of court, knock on your door, towtruck handing you a $4000 bill for impounding and crushing.

After 4 days of waiting, I am going to come to the conclusion that nobody knows if this place is NHTSA compliant or not... Guess I will find out for myself.
