I would buy it back. Mainly because it's your car... Call me sentimental, but I get attached to my cars.

Realistically, to make it track legal, what do you need:

Engine (Save $ and build a GSR block)
ITR Tranny incl aftermarket clutch shift linkage
ECU
5 lug suspension incl. aftermarket shocks & springs.
Brakes (assuming MC and ABS is ok)
Swaybars, Tie Bars
roll cage
Racing Seat
Font Bumper, Rear Bumper, Rear Valenance, lights.
Custom sheet metal dash with gages.
Wheels + Tires.

Questions would be how's the wiring harness and fuse boxes. How's the steering rack. Is there any damage underneath, any damage to the sub frame?

If you think about it, you can get most of those parts pretty easily. If you're not in a hurry, you can pick out the best deals on everything. Alot of those pieces you can get super cheap. Others, including the block, tranny, custom dash, obviously will be a bit more.

Finally, if you go to auction, you could always play the emotion card, and tell any other bidders that the car was stolen from you a year ago... you love the car... blah blah blah.

I would look to spend 1000 - 1250 on it, plus your fees. If you can get out all in all under 2k, I think you're doing quite well...

Read the description a little better. That's his old ITR that was stolen, then recovered. They've apparently attached a four lug suspension setup to get it rolling, but it is being auctioned off by the insurance company.

Damn people are such tools on HT now.

Its a ITR not a GSR.....

If you have the money its worth it, however, it depends on what you plan on doing with the car. You already know i want the car, but like i mentioned its yours, you get dibbs on it.

BUY IT AND MAKE IT A TRACK *****, its not going to be that expensive, you'll probably need a good 10k to make a very nice race car that can compete..(with a good driver)

Take off the stickers...it might help keep the price down. Good luck getting your RS back .

you really have to ask yourself, how much are you willing to pay to get the car back.
if your afraid that $700 will not get you the car then i would not even bother. i think that car will go for atleast $1500. if you asked me i would not pay more than $1000 for the car. (but it has no sentimental value to me) so if your not planning on spending more than $1500 then don't bother. but what you could do is show up, find out who won the car, then ofer to buy it from them. even if you have to pay a bit more than what it was sold. atleast you did not loose your $200 just incase you did not get the car.

sorta worth it/sorta isn't. you give such a big "type r" name to it and suddenly just want to pay SO-much for it.. you can find rs teg shells w/ interior (maybe front end too) for 1500 or less. do the math.

I wouldn't park anything CW w/ ITR stickers on it in front of my house. Wasn't this car originally stolen from your house? I'm guessing you will have plans for safer storage in the future. I wouldn't put anything past thieves.

You still never said your purpose for buying back the shell? Sentimental reasons?

because the ITR's are constructed differently from the manufacturer compared to other model integras. They are setup for track use. Not only is the suspension setup different, the sound deadening and reinforcements are different. (of course the motors/trannies are different also)</TD></TR></TABLE>

OH come on now, U and I know it's The same fukin uni-body . Get over it man!
And the very minute "chassis Stiffnes" that came original w/ the car ain't gonna do **** if he turns it into a track car.

But, If your soul purpose of buying the car back for sentimental purposes then by all means spend all you want.

I don't know - I think i have to agree.. there is much sentiment having your old car back - but at the same time......how about a different integra shell and dropping in a motor, tranny from an R...b20...h22 - whatever you would have done with this one. it might be cheaper - and you can paint in championship white! :D

I would be interested in maybe taking the vin off the old car, and keeping it as a plate in your new car - hang it on your rearview or something for memories

I mean, the sound deadning is not difficult to get off when there is NO interior...its a shell people.

-rage.

The sentimental value is key here. The ITR is still one of my favorite cars and I like it for the performance, and of course *bling* factor :D. If I build up an RS shell, it's still *sadly* and RS.

I want to drop a motor into it, some suspension, and bare bones stuff needed to make it a road racing track *****.

Buy it back!! I bought a type-r, 97, stripped the exact same exept a little more body damage for $1600 form MA and it cost me $950 to ship it to me in CA (across the country). I bought mine because i wrecked my 98 and knew that i didn't want anything else. Look if you buy your car back and bring it back to life I'll give you whatever you need from my left over 98. Don't get too exited i Don't have that much left at all. But it would make me feel better to see another one brought back to life. If your interested drop me an e-mail sogreaties@yahoo.com
I'll gets some pics for you if you need them also.

BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!

They were also rookies and stunnas that put that motor in another integra...most probably a 94-97..and they didnt know what they were doing...

If they did..the ABS/Steering rack/MC/booster would be one too

holy **** man, bummer that you had to find your ITR this way. I would take the chance and buy it back if you have the money. Just make sure you can afford to build it up. Hell, you could slap a K20 in there, and make a wicked track machine...

I say go for it - you only live once (sell that POS S2000 - what do you need that for anyway! )...
