not alot of people have the time and the money to do it, and s2k projo's aren't an easy item to obtain either.
but i do agree, but i'm satisfied with my hid. liek i said in the above, the extra 200 can definitely used towards performance upgrade.

i have seen a couple of s2k done, but thats probably the first time i've ever seen it come out that good.

Check out this perfect beam pattern :

Whats up with the "V" beam pattern? The light is completely useless as its all in the wrong place.

Heres the stock "Koito" brand 9006/HB4 OEM headlight bulbs. Nothing was touched between these two pictures, the camera and car remained in the same exact spot.

Notice how you can actually see all the mailboxes and the reflective construction sign thing, heck you can see all the way down the street! I dont need to see whats on the sidwalks, I need to see in front of my car.

I would rather see what's on the sidewalk than on the road but that's just me

Are you serious?

So on a dark, windy road out in the country, you'd rather the trees on the side of the road be illuminated than what's directly in front of you?

no, it's a whitish-bluish light thats purple while it's warming up. looks very nice, and very bright

all stock HIDs use a 4100k bulb, and it's the housing that changes the output.

the true 10,000k kit is beautiful

and i'm not putting aftermarket projectors in my JDM ITR front end

I had a Catz kit that I didn't like the looks of and never installed. I traded it to somebody for parts.

A few months ago, I installed OEM HID on my EP3, and they're absolutely awesome. Everything looked totally different from the Catz kit, the ballasts are integral, and the motorised adjusters are hilarious.

Very high quality OEM parts.

If somebody could come up with a ready-to-go OEM-like seamless kit like these for the DC2 ITR, I'd buy them. Until then, it just seems like too much trouble for not enough improvement.

Are HIDs really worth it? I mean if you like them, then by all means get them. I just never saw the benefit to using HIDs over the OEM headlights for the price it would cost. I don't find that I have a hard time seeing at night while driving. But maybe this is not the case for others?

I need to really get an extra set of headlights, maybe two. I fear I will mess up on the retrofitting at least once before I get it right.

Well I have pretty poor vision at night, and in my hometown, the highways are not lit except for the exits.... In some parts of the suburbs, you'll get only one side of the street lit or maybe only 1 streetlight per block. It's also the pacwest...so when it rains (a lot).... you can imagine.

HIDs if retrofitted properly are simply awesome...I noticed that on the 94-97 USDM lights, the pattern is worse than the '98+....I assume when Honda redesigned them for '98, and made them shoot some 15% further, this gives the '98+ guys the advantage of having a slightly better beam pattern....but still not as good as JDM '98spec nor a proper RETROFIT in either USDM "96spec/98spec."

I agree with you that to do it right can be a challenge if you're trying to save money.

The German CTR HID headlights I'm using on the EP3 are an $1100 option there.

where did you hear that? show me some info that proves more light output.

Because I have taken both 94-97 and 98-01 headlights apart, and the insides are identical.

If the slightly more slanted plastic cover on the 98+ headlights leads to 15% more light output, then I take it back.

You referring to your 300 watt misaligned RHD JDM abominations?

Those lights that make people refuse to lead you at night?

I just don't get the laziness. If any of you guys work on your cars, and are somewhat handy, the retrofit can EASILY be done. It only involves a days time and a little dremel action.

I'm done trying to convince you guys that the $2-300 you spend on 9006 HID "kits" is a complete waste of money.

This isn't where I originally read the info, as this states it's comparison between the DA and DC chassis.....

Literally a night and day difference, IMHO. After my PnP experience with a ITR, one of the requirements for my next car was that it had OEM HIDs. Or the car was so cheap that I could opt for optically correct HID driving auxilary lamps ($$$).

I remember SCC putting a set of auxilary HID driving lamps on their project EG a while back. As opposed to getting some cheap kit for the H4 and losing Highbeams and they reviewed it and it had great output and whatnot, I think the company was Xenarc?
