Has anyone sold their ITR, gotten a newer car, and got sucked back into the ITR world...

Re: (Spec R)
I have had the following cars in last 3 yrs:
Altima, Turbo Integra LS, WRX, S2K, E90 sedan, VW Rabbit, GTI (still have this). All that time I was looking for a bone stock ITR with a clean title. As of 2 weeks ago I own a 50K mile bone stock 00 PY. None of the above mentioned cars feel the way the R does. It's hard to explain. So excited...

Hey was the Turbo Ls even comparable to an ITR? While driving on the streets? I know handling is not comparable, but I imagined with the extra power from the turbo and the same interior setup it would be kind of similar when under regular street driving conditions
People Miss their Type R because it is a rare car that not everyone has, and offers the best performance and all around package for the price.
If you notice everyone who changes their car gets a car that is seen alot on the streets. They get things like an S2000, M3, Rsx, VW, STI, Evo, and honestly I see all these cars on the streets alot. You wont see someone complaining if they went from an ITR to another rare high performance (not that the ITR really compares with these) car like a lambo, ferrari, or a GT2/GT3.

very true.
i've driven type R's and a few other turbo hondas (other than my own) and around town when you're just driving around, theres not much difference, if any.
its when you drop the hammer or go to a track event when you start seeing the differences.

sir99 - That rarity factor is certainly part of it. I'd be coming from a limited production car (5000). I've had alot of rare cars though, come to think of it, my favorite cars were the rare ones lol. As I keep looking at european cars... a birdy is telling me to go for the ITR. I'd rather let insurance deal with thieves than let my wallet deal with ridiculous maintenance costs.

Re: (SiR99)
The ITR still feels different than the LS did. The suspension and transmission feel a lot better in the ITR. The turbo LS was a lot of fun power wise after a while I got sick of it. Way too much power for FWD threw off the car's balance. That and it always needed work to keep reliable.

Re: (Jon D)
I totally get what you all are saying, even though I've never owned an ITR.
I previously owned a 97 GSR that I modified for track use and it was very similar in feel to an ITR I'd imagine. I loved the car, loved driving it on track, but began to get frustrated with it for daily use. I always wanted an ITR, but got into the GSR instead.
I now own a MKV GTI, and have grown to like it. It is much more refined than any Integra could ever be for daily driving, but really lacks that raw race car feel that the ITR has. I've yet to run the GTI on a track, I'm sure it would be fun, but I bet the DC2 felt better getting tossed around.
Even though I never owned an ITR, I always lusted after a white 98. I got the GTI in white for this reason I believe. I find myself really craving an ITR again, I frequent this forum just because I love the car and this community so much.
I doubt that I'll trade in my GTI to buy an older ITR, but whenever I have the funds for a second car, it'll for sure be an ITR, or an ITR shell for me to restore to glory.
I hope to attend Expo someday in an ITR.

Had a '97 itr and got rid of it for various reasons....missed her ever since.
Driven in other more expensive/comfortable cars, and currently own an LS.
Ill be checking out a '00 itr tomorrow and will probably buy it...miss it waaaay too much. There isn't anything like it in the price range.
Ill just have to put up with the theif issue. I think its worth it...I have full insurance if anything ever happens...Just want to enjoy it again!

I owned a 98 and it had ps and ac. The guy on page one mentions the sunroof and cruise control but does that really make a difference? I didn't mind not having a sunroof and cruise control, you barely use it unless you're doing a lot of long uninterrupted driving. And the stereo system. If you want something better just upgrade the speakers and the head unit. Most people upgrade the head unit anyways. All that is just minor to me, nothing that makes a drastic difference. besides it's a race car, what does it need a great stereo system for lol.
My R was stolen last year in Sept. and I've missed it ever since. I owned it for 4 years and I have to say that I enjoyed every minute of it. I don't think there was ever a time when I got bored driving heR. I'm definitely going to own another soon.

There's nothing quite like driving home from work, being tail gated by a nice mammoth dynosaur of and SUV or any other car for that matter and then coming up to a round-about or sharp corner, flying around it with no drama and watching the expression on the tailgators face, thinking "how the f#$k did he do that."

Yeah it doesnt make a difference if you never use the sunroof or cruise, but i tend to use cruise and sunroof daily for my commute. (i work late at night, so on the way home i set the cruise to around 72-75 since there are usually CHP officers on the route i take home - plus it helps with the mileage).

OP sent me a PM today asking if I regret selling my R for a RSX-S.... keep in mind I owned both overlapping over a year so it wasn't an instant swap out, I still got to pick and choose.
it all depends what you want out of it.... As far as the driving experience is concerned the ITR is hard to mess with. But I'm at a point in my life where I wanted a more professional appearance, normal driving, non-toy car. In addition I don't have to worry about this one, I just parked it on a street in the bronx for 2 days last week and didn't even have to worry if it was going to be there when I came back.
I wouldn't mind another R one day when I have a bunch of extra cash laying around and it can be a garage queen, but as a daily driver I don't miss it much. The RSX is more refined and an easier drive.

The RSX-S is lacking tons depending on what you're looking for... IMO comparing the two is apples to oranges. You'd own each car for specific purposes. The driving experience and raw connection to the road on the ITR is unsurpassed by any other honda.

Re: Has anyone sold their ITR, gotten a newer car, and got sucked back into the ITR world... (jm01dc
When I first read the thread I thought it said something along the lines of "Anyone sold their ITR, got a new car that sucked, and came back to an R"...LOL!
I'm selling my second ITR after owning this one for almost five years. Since I bought my M about a month ago I've driven my ITR twice, other than the Expo of course.
I don't miss it yet, but as soon as it's gone I will- especially if I have to start replacing parts on the BMW, although it's at about 35k miles.
The two best memories about the '97 were racing autocross on fresh R comps and the Expo driving was waaaaay more seat time than I expected. VIR Full is such a hoot!
I'll be back in an R. Probably not a CW one because I got really tired of cleaning brake dust although everyone knows the CW ones are the real Type R's.

all the reasons you mentioned earlier in the thread are what the ITR is NOT about. that is why you like the RSX better. the ITR is a drivers car. the RSX is a newer, nicer, more mundane car. you obviously prefer the latter which is why you like the RSX better. not taking a shot at you or the RSX, just sayin. Id really like to drive a DC5R and see if those offer the same raw feeling as the DC2R. I think thats a better comparison with the ITR than an RSX we have in the states.
If I sold my car and picked up something else, I would definitely miss it. I plan to sell my civic at the end of the year so I can get an S2K. But Ill be keeping the R as well.

I dont take offense, infact I agree. Depending on my mood sometimes Id like driving the R, for the reasons you list, you cant beat on the RSX like you can with the R. It just doesnt respond well to high rpm shifts and I prefer the feel of the solid linkage rather than the cables of the RSX. When the R is gone, ill be replacing it (so to speak) with a CBR/Gsxr, then keep the RSX for the days when I just feel like cruising.
