Honda makes a OEM factory ball joint tool that works like a charm everytime. The only down side is the tool costs about $180.00 but definitely worth the money. You can order it from Honda.

back from the dead...again
yeah so Im in the process of making some changes to my tranny (again), and THIS TIME I was able to get the ball joint out of the LCA using the wrench between the spindle and LCA, which was not working previously on both driver and passenger side. the key is to remove the fork from the bottom of the shock and detach it from the LCA. I previously thought I had to leave that attached and connected to the LCA in order to use the force of the shock pushing down, pinching the wrench. But that actually prevents you from jacking the suspension high enough to allow a good chunk of wrench to be pinched. The force of the spring alone is enough to push down the assembly, pinch the wrench, and POP.
<<< who is happy he doesnt have to remove half the suspension and sway bar to remove the axles

hit the ratchet? Im curious to know how you are hitting it. my car is on jackstands and not much room or angle to swing hammers without bashing the fender or the rotor.

I turn the wheel all the way to one side, stick the ratchet in there, and swing away. I've only "almost" hit the fender a couple of times. Only when that doesnt work do I take the time and jack the hub up.
On a lift my friend ***** back like he's chopping fire wood and hits the lower arm with a HFH!! I dont trust myself enough for that.
