Getting another ITR - high mileage
Hi,
I'm back on Honda Tech after a long time from owning an Integra Type R for about 8 years between 2002 and 2010. I had a 1998 EUDM Milano Red that was repainted dark grey number 2745. I moved on for different reasons.
I'm now thinking of buying a black JDM front conversion with high mileage and planning on doing some work as a pass time hobby. This ITR is about 300k kms about 185k miles, a JDM front has recently been added. The car seems to be in pretty good shape and kept up well. Inspections have passed and all seems fine. In Europe and specifically Switzerland 300k miles is considered close to no value however I'm not sure if that's just a speculation. If I consider keeping this car as a weekend driver for country roads and once a year track day, why not right? I'm looking for some advice on this type of mileage for an ITR and what to expect as maintenance. For example, would I have to rebuild the gear box and motor? Are all bushings and pipes to be replaced?
Thank you and really nostalgic to be posting again.

Re: Getting another ITR - high mileage
Congrats on trying to get back in to the ITR world,
Step one buy/download the service manual, they are all over the internet.
Step 2 check health of engine - ask for any maintenance records, service history etc
Compression test, leakdown test of motor, this will tell you the health of the engine. Replace consumables ie: Spark plugs, cap/rotor, oil etc
Transmission - Nothing too crazy here, change fluid, any grinding? hard to change gears? Clunks? - Clutch master and slave fail over time, seals start to leak etc.
Any used car is a gamble, check everything over or have a shop you trust check it over. I bought a high kms ITR (260,00 kms ) and it drove great, until I took it to a track day and spun a bearing (high mileage, normal wear and tear, oil pressure/burning)
