fastbrakes rear brake upgrade
Anybody have experience with these?
kit #1 - NSX caliper + rotor

i had that setup but i sold them... i was running 1996 nsx calipers all the way around with legend gsr rotors up front and 96 nsx rear rotors in the rear. it was tight fit in the rear with 15in itr wheels.

yup, i was running complete 1996 nsx calipers, 95 legend gs rotors (F), 96 nsx rotors (R), all under the stock usdm ITR wheels.

I don't know if the rear calipers for the ITR should be upgraded IMHO.
In braking zone at corner entry, the rear would get really light. Too aggressive of a rear brake would cause unintentional lockup (creating a white smoke screen ).

exactly.., i thought the setup was a huge overkill, but at the sametime i liked the upgrade cause it fit under the stockers.
they have since been sold for spoon calipers, rotors, pads up front and stock itr braking setup in the rear.

Crunching some rudimentary math leads me to believe that both of those setups are massively rear biased and would make for a highly unstable car if the ABS was ever removed, disabled, or even malfunctioned.
Not to mention that the car will actually be slower with those things on there.

Thats what I would think too. You dont want to nail the brakes at 130mph and have the back tires lockup more than they do with stock bakes. Sounds like a bad/dangerous idea to me unless you upgrade the front by the same percentage.

Can't you just use a proportioning valve or adjust the brake bias in some way to accommodate the difference in caliper sizes?
I've always wanted an easier way to change rear pads - and that two piston setup looks nice...

actually if you are talking about the rear caliper.. its still one piston, just a bigger piston diameter.

sure, you could use a proportioning valve to turn down the rear brakes until they have stock level stoping force, but then whats the point?

What kind of setup did realtime run on there old cars? I remember seeing a 4pot brembo caliper in the front, and a 2 piston brembo in the rear. If they ran a brake bias controller, did they have to modify the system from diagonal to front-rear?

looks like stock rears with brembo 4 pot fronts. I do remember they of course had ducting and I think they may have deactivated the ABS.
I know I have that issue of SCC home somewhere, I'll take a look later and see what they list.

Thanks but, I can only take the credit for finding the pics at Yahoo images online and posting them here. Although I do have that particular magazine at home as well as I think 2 others, GRM and I think R&T where they went through the realtime R's in depth for similar articles.

I seem to remember seeing some nice compact wilwood rear calipers with the pins for easy pad swapping... they were small and about the same size as itr calipers... I'd like those...
I can't find them on the fastbrakes website any longer, however.....
