Yes, the remote reservoirs do create more room. I believe monotubes are able to operate with less travel because the construction allows for more fluid volume per height/length. But...I'm not 100% about the 2nd part.

You guys know what I do for a living, but are we seriously comparing an off the shelf Koni/GC setup to a double adjustable coilover? =D

And I love the guys at GC and Koni. haha

I've driven on GC and R2s on multiple FWD and RWD platforms and will say the added cost is worth it. The confidence and control you get with a high pressure, monotube shock can't be compared with twin-tube inserts. Not to mention a completely separate damper adjustment to add to it.

The same could also be said for a big brake kit. Will it make you stop exceptionally shorter given the same pad compound? Probably not, but the extra heat dissipation and pedal modulation play a huge role in driver confidence.

The Type-R is a great platform with lots of room to upgrade the factory hardware. While the Ground-Control kits are really, really good kits for what they are, there is always room for something better. The R2 isn't for everyone but if you're doing any sort of time trial or wheel to wheel racing - it's a great option to have.

If anyone has a set for EG or non-R's, I'll gladly borrow them to compare. :D
