ONEtime I bought an off brand timing kit (eBay) and got roughly 6000 miles before that happened to ME. Bent valves and time and tow, it was a learning lesson to be sure. NO MORE OFF BRAND BELTS! Gates only forever.

Looks like improper installation to me, belts almost never fail in that manner (no matter what brand). Might have had a tension issue or misalignment. Just saying.

Its done now, nothing to do but assess the damage and move forward. Did the belt break under load or while idling?

Pull the head and have the valves and guides checked. Inspect the block for damage to the sleeves. If you're lucky only the valves took the hit. The block could be damaged hopefully a re-hone will fix. Just take it one step a time.

OMG!!! Congrats on that baby I hope the lord grants you a very healthy son! I'm just jealous someone literally stole a CDM itr for soo cheap. I would have procured a JDM ITR replacement for $2500 and had it running the next day UGH! why am I never soo lucky!

I have a semi related question. I replaced belt and tensioner with OEM 5 years ago, but have only done 11,000 km (about 7,000 miles) since then. So when should I replace again?
