car is starting sluggish

Re: car is starting sluggish (FusionITR)
How many miles does your car have? It could be a few things....tune up, bad gas, weather. My car always takes a few turns to start, but it's nothing out of the ordinary. hth.

Even Acura say the car starts only after some cranking.. Read it in one of their origional press releases.. Mine is the same.. I'm constantly letting go of the key thinking the car has started by now, and it hasn't..

I think someone posted this up a while back. What you want to do is not turn the key and crank it right away. If you turn the key, and leave it to the on position for like 4 seconds, you will hear somethings like the fuel pump go on or something to pressurize the lines etc... (talking out of my ***.. dunno if it's to pressurize the lines or not) then after all the lights and **** go out on the cluster, crank it. Should fire right up, works for me.

Thats funny I was just thinking about that. It seems to me it's always the case with any Honda 4 cyl I've ever seen. It's not as easy to wake up as other cars, but she'll always start.

Re: car is starting sluggish (FusionITR)
It happens once with my car when I didn't drive it for 4 days or so. Normally it starts immediately (0.5 - 1 second), but the first time after those 4 days it needed 2 attempts of 2-3 seconds...... Must be the battery I think.....
Hint: never let your start motor runs longer than 4 seconds!!!

what does that mean? you mean don't sit there and turn the key, in attempt to have your motor start for longer than 4 sec's. If so, why not?

I mean don't run the start motor longer than 4 seconds continuously....
Let it cool down after those 4 seconds and try again. It's better for the starter, battery and the engine.

the car doesnt start strong like it should... just starts really sluggish... but it always starts tho. What could be causing this?
Runs great, dyno'd great, otherwise no problems.

Re: car is starting sluggish (FusionITR)
I'm taking a risk here.
It could also be that corroded ground wires and or battery terminals can be causing the problem. Try cleaning everything up and using vaseline on all of the connections/terminals.
Replace plugs, wires, cap and rotor if old.
Also clogged filter/fuel system. Put in a new filter and a couple bottles of Regane.
Good luck.

mine doesnt start up very smoothly thats for sure. I was also told to turn the ignition to "ON", and wait for the "check engine" light to go out, and then crank it all the way to start it up. I heard that was just related to making sure the fuel lines were full and fuel is ready to head to the motor to start it.
