Brif history of ITR1244
Hi i just wanted to share what i have went through with my itr with you guys.
2001 summer: picked her up at a dealership in Richmond BC. had to be in waiting list for about 8 months to get her. she had such high demand everyone wanted it.
2001 fall: drove from vancouver BC to Detriot MI 5000km and took me about a week.
there was no big issues with the car for next 5 years.
2006 took my car for a dyno. it only made around 170 whp . i was pretty upset. so did compression test and the result wasn't too good.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjsgytbIRVM
so i decided to rebuild my motor for some more power.
installed ctr pistons on stock rods. and some rm cams and other goodies.
now the car made 200 whp.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0DmgtGkklg
early 2007. got roll cage welded in my car.
2007 took my car to a track day broke the spring off the clutch disk. replaced the clutch.
2008 possible loose bolts on pressure plate leading it to miss a gear going from 2nd to 3rd gear. i spun the bearing on my B18c5 FXXX!!
2009 time for some Frankenstein B20 Vtec it is. bought B20 with wiseco pistons and eagle rods. too bad i dont have any videos of this setup...
2009 fall. the fail. hooked up an oil cooler. summit racing gave me a wrong kind of rubber hose. instead of oil hose . the guy gave me a heater hose. so the hose blew up, lost all my oil.. AGAIN spun bearing WTF!!!!
2010. pretty much lost all my interest on my car. i'm sick of it. i was about to give it up.
so another damn engine build....
i'm hoping this is my final setup and never have to f with it again!
engine
original B18c5.
turned crank, heat treat, balance, polish
wiesco 81.5mm 11.5 CR.
carrillo pro a beam rods
rm m22xx cams, skunk 2 valves,
tranny
4.9 FD with ls 5th gear
the motor is still in the shop waiting for some more parts.
so much work to do still
thanks for reading
The motor is done just waiting to put it back in my car !
I'm still stressed out for everything that's coming ahead.
properly breaking in the motor, getting it tuned, getting e test again. !!

Just think of how much you have learned from having so many problems with your ITR. The loss of money and time hurts but the wealth of knowledge in some ways make up for it.
Good luck man, hope it comes together perfect this time around!

yeah i did learn alot about cars f king around with my car for sure.
there are so many times i wanted to get rid of her but i know there is NO car out there that makes me exited as itr when i first fell in love with it.
maybe 911 GT3 but who has that kind of money.
most of the new cars seems too perfect. too smooth, quite, boring to me

Very well said, going through **** with a car you love sucks, but you learn everything your dad told you to do that you didn't do, he was right about, at least in my case.

yeeah canaduh!!
i didnt like the B20 block's casting.. it seems weak + it doesn't have the block girdle
i thought about going into the K's but i have to switch everything like my perfect ANR race header +T1r bpipe with mugen tl.
you need new everything.. from header to exh. engine management system
i rather just go buy a rsx for 10 g
i actually like being original. B all the way !!
if you guys have any comments on my new setup let me know what you guys think.
does it look pretty solid? anything i'm forgetting? what else should she deserve this time?
i dont have that much $$ so i have to forget about getting the head port & polished.

Really sucks to hear how much trouble these Rs seem to be for you guys. Seems like 1/2 of the threads in this section are tales of extreme misfortune.

Lol! The ITR is one of the most bulletproof cars Honda has ever made. It was one of the closest things to a racing car that could be licensed on the street, that Honda has ever made (NSX not withstanding). The problem lies in the fact that some of us make dramatic modifications to our cars (me included). The sorting process after the modifications are made can be lengthy and painful, depending on the modifications. But we take solace in the fact that when all is said and done the modifications will be successful, and that they were done to our ITR. Happy motoring, and enjoy your stock Prelude.
