ATTN: ITR Owners with Mugen Hood the JDM vented one y0 mad tiite JDM y0 HELP
Hi my name is Casey,
Some of you may know me others may not i'm looking for some assistance.
I'm building the road race car shown here
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1240067
I need to find an ITR or integra ( figured mostly itr guys would own this part) owner around the So Cal area preferabbly OC that would let me and another engineering friend come take some measurements from their Mugen hood.
The reason? I'm going to use a USDM front end on the car therefore aerodynamically sound Mugen hood's are not avilable to me.
Speaking to my Aero guy known as Dr. Mac, we decided that the best thing to do is dupplicate the mugen hood vent placement and size.
The mugen Aero parts have seen wind tunnell time and are placed, sized, designed, and engineered correctly. So I need to take a bunch of mesurements give them to my fabricator and have him modify the US Hood so my carbon guy can make a mold off of it.
Thanks In advance guys any help is greatly appreciated.
Oh yeah if you ask around on the board i'm not some creepy that's going to tie you up eat you and still your m00gen parts

well I cant really help with your question at hand, but I have a question for you.
Since the mugen hood is supposedly aero tested, wouldnt getting its exact measurements from a JDM front car, and placing it on a USDM front car defeat the purpose of using the JDM front aero testing? The air is going to flow completely different over and around the hood due to the front ends being completely different.

Re: (RTW DC2R)
They are still of a simialar shape and without accurate wind tunnel testing or a whole lot of testing time we probably aren't going to be able to beat it.
The main thing is the size of the vent and how far back it is placed. Vent placement is key it needs to allow the most air possiblle to leave the engine bay and flow over the rear wing.
We are not (to my knowledge) so concerned with the flow over the front of the hood or front bumper but the flow through the main air inlet and the flow out of the engine bay through the vent.
I may be able to get Dr. Mac come enlighten everyone

You might have better luck finding someone with a replica hood, or a company that sells the replica.
However, socal would be your best bet for finding someone with a mugen hood.

I hear ya. I always wondered if my custom hood vent actually helped hot air escape while driving or not. When Im sitting at a stop light I can see the heat pouring out, but have no idea whats happening while under a driving condition.

I dunno how far this guy is, but I'm pretty sure he has one.
Worse comes to worst, you could probably ask him to take the measurements for you as he appears to be more than a *little* mechanically inclined.

I recently sold my Mugen replica hood to Luder94, PM him.
Here is the camoflouge duct tape that I wrapped it with.

what brand makes this mugen replica hood? does anyone has info on this hood? another thing cause i have a CAI will water get in the engine bay from the holes? or theres some type of water return when it rains

judging by where the holes are in that hood, theres no way that any significant water is going to hit the cai because most of it is going to evaporate on the header and the angle of the vent is going to keep the water flowing towards the center as opposed to the sides. I had a mugen replica hood at one point and never experienced any problems with my cai

there is no catch, or water return, a bit of water runs down those 2 vents, but drops on the header i believe, or the valve cover maybe, either way theres not enough water to do anything to your intake cold air or not, you just have to worry about big puddles, get the bypass valve if your worried.

Re: (Black R)
it should work pretty close the authentic mugen,
but the jdm front end is different, it has a grill to let in a lot more air to push out more air. good luck on the hood.
P.S. Dremel that bitch.
