Re: Area around the shift **** overheating?
it very might could be, but if its noticable it might be other things as well
i had this problem the rubber around the shifter 'hole' came off i put it back on and used flashband (similar to dynamat) to insulate the entire area, this was in an integra si, im in a type r now and i need to insulate too, a few pics;
sealing it up;
surrounding area;
the ENTIRE FLOOR as well (extra layers around the exaust surrounding the 'hump' if you will gets hot from the exaust
i live in jamaica, it is freakin HOT and this helps inside stay cooler (i use ac btw)
oh yes! lol, i also RUBBER UNDERCOATED the undercarraige and sprayed it in chrome (to reflect the heat from the road, lol)
hope this helps

Re: Area around the shift **** overheating?
yup, i sure did, the entire shifter/console was hot, and hot air blowing up through the handbrake area, funny thing is, after i sealed up the shifter it was still hot(ish) i had to do the floor then i did the undercarraige, i think the exaust was too close to the chassis... i tend to adress this on my type r by first removing exaust, coating heat shields and undercarraige and heat wrapping the entire exaust (properly)
