Default Abs Code 1 8 High Pressure system.

First up Hello again ITR Fourm,I haven't post here in ages...

Anyway my 96 jdm ITR is throwing the 1 8 High Pressure system abs code, now I did a quick search but found nothing conclusive in terms of an answer.

Now when it comes to the abs I'm an utter noob never had a problem before,so it'll be going to a shop to be sorted,my question is if the accumulator need's to be replaced is it an easy job or a a pain in the ***.

I really want to get an idea of labour time.

Thanks guys.

I believe that is the code for the main ABS system not holding pressure, a seal in the unit, not replaceable, not the O-ring. I did the accumulator, as it leaked, and have since developed the 1,8 code. I clear the code and use the ABS when I know that I will need it. The code will come back eventually, and the abs light on, and then not work. The ABS pump runs more and will eventually fail. I leave it off, pull the fuse, and then use it on the track to avoid flat spotting the tires, and in bad weather. I have gotten away with this for 2 years. I did not look this up again for you, but am fairly sure on the code. Accumulator leak will usually be visable along the accumulator as you look down it. You may find a small amount of fluid under the ABS, slide in a rolled paper towel. Again, I had an accumulator leak, different code as I recall, replaced it, and then got the 1,8 code. The ABS system slowly fails in pieces.

Well thanks for the reply, however I will have to get this fixed since it's for the NCT car test over here.

The car is braking fine but the car will be failed for having the abs light on in the dash & pulling the bulb isn't an option any more sadly so It's gotta be fixed in the next month.Iv'e it booked in monday week to be worked on,it's the labour time I'm most interested in tbh.

I would not want a used ABS, unless low milage. '94-'96? i believe had the older style ABS and then it changed. Rebuilt unit are available and could fix the problem. You may want to price this option so that you have an idea of prices. Perhaps you could acquire the rebuilt unit and have it installed. ABS is not cheap.

hmm labor time for actual abs unit replacement i would estimate 1-2 hr most shouldnt take that long...
its fairly simple... it falls under the category of if you can change your master cylinder you can change this

I replaced the abs pump with a secondhand one & my high pressure system is fixed, the pump cost me €120 & took an hour to fit which cost me €60 labour.

Total €180 euros.

I also got new discs & pads while I was at it & yes they are four stud.

Bringing this post back to life..

I have the same issue with my '97 JDM integra.

I bled some fluid from the high pressure pump to see what was going on, started the car and the ABS light went out???

turned it off and back on again to see if it had worked but the ABS light came back on.

Just wondering if anyone had any idea what was going on? I tried this process again and it does the same thing, bleed some fluid and start the car - light goes out, but leave it and it comes back on.

I have the EXACT same issue on a 1995 Accord EX 2.2 with ABS non VTEC. I replaced the O'rings and the Accumulator but there's no difference. You may notice the PDF manual says to replaced the "modulator." I think that may be the whole ABS unit. I'm about to do it this weekend with one I recovered from the junk yard - hope it works.
