1997 Integra Type R Fuel Requirement
-1997 Jdm Itr motor is all stock w/255 fuel pump, I was wandering what do guys use on pump (unleaded premium) 91,92 or 93. I'm currently on 92 and it rides pretty smooth but i read some articles that all vtec motors should be using 91.
True or False?
-And has anyone tried 93 (BP gas-stations)? Cuz I know that the Itr motor has high compression and I'm guessin the high on pump gas the better?
Help me choose for better gas mileage, better acceleration, etc...

Interesting because in New Zealand we have 91, 96 or 98 and no one would use 91 in an ITR. Do you have 80 something in the US too?

You guys use a different rating system for gasoline than we do. Ours is an average of the RON and MON methods. I'm guessing you guys just use the one thats higher. Here in the US we have 87 89 and 91(west coast)/93(east coast). They are probably the same as your 91, 96, 98.

Re: 1997 Integra Type R Fuel Requirement
Rich is bad. Lean is worse.
Rich means there is too much fuel per unit of air to burn properly. This results in loss of power/efficiency, excess deposits in the exhaust, catalytic converter and on the back of your car. It also smells awful and poofs black smoke when you hammer the throttle.
Lean means the opposite (not enough fuel). This causes combustion/exhaust temps to spike which leads to detonation, hammered bearings, burned valves, melted pistons and bent rods.
