I got them in 2-3 days, it was pretty quick. I'm waiting for the rain today to double-check that I solved my problem, but in any case I'll do another hose test tomorrow before putting the car back together.

On the upside, I mounted my Recaros today and I love them. The bolsters are a tight squeeze on my American backside but I feel super planted.

Standard JDM rails. The seating position seems to be the same as the USDM seats.

Cool thanks. Heard they were a bit higher than usdm rails so not sure which route I want to go when I order my seats.

After a few more rain tests, I convinced myself that the leak was resolved. Today I reinstalled the interior and finally put in the JDM Recaros hopefully for good.

Mikey (Bitanga) came by to pick up some parts. It was great to meet him and check out his clean R. Well, both of our cars were dirty, but you know what I mean.

You know it's a great car when you never walk away without turning back to look again.

Ordered some tools to do a valve adjustment in the next few weeks.

First time reading your thread and love what you have done so far. Glad I could somewhat help out with your water leak issue.

Looks great!

I probably look at my car 16 times before its out of my sight. Then when I get to where I am going I usually peek out a window or door just in case lol.

I was able to eliminate the whistle by applying foam gasket tape around the box where the 2 halves meet, and also around the filter neck where it enters the box.

3. The sound is different. Less of an insane bellow at the VTEC crossover. Blips on downshift also have a deep growl, which was surprising. I am a fan of the new sound overall, slightly more subdued.
4. This one looks better.

Also, I think I have found the source of that fuel smell... yes, that is a jet of fuel off the injector O-ring. Wups. I'll live with it another day and order new o-rings for all the injectors this weekend.

Tires and alignment tomorrow.

Interesting, I may give that a shot. My old Scion tC had a weird intake whistle too, in fact you can hear it in Camry motors from that generation (same motor).

This is actually how I received them from the previous owner... he must have put on the Brembos early in the car's life. I guess I would recommend attacking yours with a lot of brake cleaner and a coarse brush (but not so coarse as to remove the plating).

Valve adjustment today.

Found everything to be within spec, except for the #1 intake valves, which needed to be tightened just a bit.

This is probably good for 10-15 horsepower. Previous owner's records show that the belt was fitted in '09, only 4k miles ago, but it looks like it's got small cracks. Opinions?

Spark plugs all looked healthy, though they were gapped to 0.05". Gapped them to 0.04" per the manual. The spark plug wires look original, I'll order a new set soon to replace.

Finished it all off with the JDM valve cover. Success!

Nice job.

Honda say every 60k miles or 6 years for a timing belt. I'd get it changed.

Probably better safe then sorry with the timing belt. How did the teeth look? Notice any build up or dust inside the timing belt cover from the belt wearing?

I vaguely remember some talk a long time ago about Toda belts but I think that was only an issue with overly tight belts or aftermarket cam gears. You have stock cam gears so hopefully the teeth look good.

I typically prefer OEM belts. Ive never had an issue from my stock to 600hp turbo Rs.

Found this from a few years back

Good info, thanks. I see no reason to go with anything besides OEM for parts like this. I'll plan to replace soon.

Damn, they should start paying me commission.

Is this the kit I want, or do I want this? Or do I want something else altogether?

you can get the gates kit that includes just the belt and tension-er. do not get the gates water pump. they have terrible reviews and fail quite quickly. go with an oem pump, gates belt and koyo tension-er. More Information for GATES TCK247

I believe the tension-er i got in this kit was a koyo, then i just bought an oem pump.
