Yokohoma AVS ES100... How do you like em in the rain and slick conditions?
Just wondering how you like the ES100s in the rain and otherwise crappy weather, I live in western WA and so rain is a frequent occurence. The ES100 is listed as a summer tire, but I've heard that they actually handle wet conditions quite well. Specifically, I'm going to mount 205/50/15 on 15x7 slips and have about 240whp/220ft lbs. Your experiences would be appreciated...

i have them and they are good in the rain, but if its snowing or even really cold out they suck. the hotter they are the better they grip

my friend just ran down a pair of 205-50-16's in about 8000 miles. All for tires need to be replaced. I'm suspecting they weren't rotated at all.
I still like them though.

They've been great for me in the wet, going on 26K miles on my current set, almost time for a new set.

i have some as well.. i've had them for a little less than a year. i love them, other than the fact that the tire wear is starting to look pretty bald on the inside (from my negative camber). i knew the camber was bad, but i didnt think they'd wear quite this quick

I've been using them year around.
Hot weather:
Dry = excellent
Wet = excellent
Cold weather:
Dry = good (warm them up)
Snow = horrible
But you CAN drive on them in the snow (although you spin in every gear)...just watch out for soccer moms in their SUV's.

Not to mention 72$ a tire for 205/50/15 great bang for the buck, the tread is cool and the top of the tires come in a little and helps a little with the fender rub.

I'm considering 195/50-15 ES100's for my next set, because they're only $54/tire from the Tire Rack, almost $80 less for the set.
Has anybody run 195/50 tires on an Integra? I know they're a tad small, and will make my speedometer off more (don't care) and will make my car sit a bit lower (it's too low already) but they're so cheap and will improve acceleration a bit. Any experiences?

$95 mounted and balanced at my local Discount Tire, coming in on Wednesday
205/50/15 btw... They are matching the discounttiredirect.com price + balancing cost.

had them in stock 14's. loved them. a little mushy on tunr in on account of the sidewall but really good traction. in the rain they were awesome.. and they felt so safe at speeds. i loved those tires. performance increases with treadwear too. i only got to put about 10k hard driven miles on them before i had to buy snow tires cuz they just suck in the snow.
but now i'm riding on 215/40/17 dunlops.. i'd def be willing to try the es100's in this size. great budget tire.

I just bought a set a few days ago for my integra and I'll have to say that I'm pretty happy with them. Even tested them out in the rain yesterday and they handled pretty well. My dad also has a set on his IS300 and says they are a big improvement over the potenzas he had.

Re: (initialR)
I have the yokos on the car i'm getting this weekend. Good to see they seem to handle the rain well, but shitty in snow? Hrmm... good thing I'm getting a winter set w/ the car.
Just a random shot at this, but, I have Falken Ziex ZE-502 on my current car and wondering how they compare to the AVS ES100?
The falkens were great in the dry when I got them, they are really starting to suffer though. In the rain and snow they were never really good though, and now, they are TERRIBLE(the falkens) This past winter, i had to feather the throttle all the way across intersections in the snow, any more than just a few taps and i'd spin them like nuts.

Re: (Gerbilo)
Update: I put a set of ES100 205/50/15s on my new 15x7 Rota slips and they are ****** great It was a drastic improvement from my 26lbs 17x7.5" rims w/ Yoko Parada Spec2 215/45/17 rubber. Acceleration, handling, and braking all are noticeably improved, as should be expected, but the tires so far seem superb. Traction is excellent, despite having 240whp/220ft lbs, and I couldn't be happier

Re: (Gerbilo)
I agree with all the above.
Summer, dry or wet, as long as they have heat in them.
Winter, dry or wet as long as they have ALOT of heat in them.
Snow, slush, ice. = almost scary, but driveable if you are VERY careful.

Yup, I drove em in the rain the other day and they were fine. I honestly can't believe how well they grab, I was sure I would have traction issues with 13.5lbs 15" wheels... pleasantly surprised. I'm going to an AutoX school this weekend, first time ever driving in a situation like that, I'll post my opinion of 'em
