Default Windshield Wiper Problems! only works on high speed

Hey I just got an Integra, and the Windshield wiper doesnt work on low speed or intermediate. It also doesn't work when you push the switch down for temporary high speed. It also doesn't park the wipers in the right position when I turn it off. When I activate the windshield washer, the washer works and sprays, but the wiper doesnt work.
The only thing that works is the highspeed. Its so annoying when its barely sprinkling, and i have to put it on highspeed and keep playing with it non stop.

I checked my wiper fuse.
I read it can be switch, wiper motor, or intergrated control relay.
but i cant tell, any teg owners have any light to share? based on what information I gave, which is the only way the wipers would move is in high speed, no other way of getting it to move, and it won't move when the washer is spraying.

plz help i live in seattle where it forever rains lol..

The ICU only controls the intermittent wipers.

The problem is the motor, you did not say what year so I will go with a G3, [94]... http://acuraautomotiveparts.org/acur...s=&view=normal #2. 94

i'd probably test resistance of the motor first. just to be sure

I would check the wiper motor but also dont forget that the wiper switch controls the speed selection.

Hey Fcm, yup i have a Gen. 3 97 LS. and what you said makes sense and u always gave great advice in electical problems i had in the past, basically i can't get the wiper to move in anyway besides putting it on highspeed and the wipers dont park either when i turn it off, i have to time it or else it parks anywhere lol.
When I put the wiper into low or intermediate i dont hear the clicking sound that ppl describe. is it suppose to be continuous clicking? Does all this point to a new wiper motor? or can it be the combo switch.?

thanks so much for the help so far..

Although the switch "selects" speed it does not control speed, the speed of the wiper depends on what winding in the motor that is powered and a bad switch could be the problem, however, the park function is completely independent of the switch, it is totally controlled by the motor, [switching in motor assembly].

So even if the switch, [Combination Light Switch] and the ICU, [intermittent] wipers] are also defective, the motor assembly will still need to be changed as the switch only controls slow/fast speed and the ICU only controls intermittent wipers but the motor can have an effect on all three, [speed, intermittent and park].

I should add that the problem may also be wiring, but that is the least likely 94

oh okay thanks alot, im definetly going to test the wiper motor when i have a chance.
Also i don't know if this have to do with anything but my rear window wiper works good, and the rear window washer works good, and they both come on after activating the rear washer, leading me to think that it should be the motor.

I have a wiper motor off of a 98 integra if you end up needing one. And the clicking people reffer to is in intermediate. Everytime the wipers come on you will hear a click.

The rear wiper system is a completely separate circuit, nothing is shared except the washer fluid reservoir and even has it's own fuse [on the 98 only].

So you understand, the problem is not the motor itself, it is most likely the run/park switch in the wiper motor assembly, and again you may still have a problem with the ICU and/or the wiper switch, [Combination Light Switch]. 94

Okay so I finally replaced the motor, and NOTHING happened.... so I replaced the switch and everything worked again... So I guess parking of the wipers is related to the switch?

Only in the sense that power from the switch is "cut", [turned off] to the motor assembly, the park circuit is in the motor assembly itself, keeping power to the motor untill it reaches the park position where the circuit is opened.

Anyway, you have an extra good wiper motor assembly now and working wipers. 94
