Re: what is a zc motor? (88crxdxfastwhip)
zc is like a mini ls motor. it comes with less hp and less torque then a ls but when that motor is put in hatchbacks it is better then the d-series. they have a sohc model and a dohc model. i didn't think the zc motor came stock in any car but i could be wrong. thats all i know i'll let somebody else finish the rest

zc is a motor that came in the integra in other parts of the world.
Any USDM 90 teg should have a B18A(B?)
The engine code is stamed on the front of the engine near the tranny. SOmetimes you have to clean the engine to actually see it

The ZC motor (D16ZC/D16A1) is a DOHC non-vtec d-series motor, though I do believe there is also an SOHC version. In america they came in the 1987-1989 Integra. The engine is comparable to a non-vtec B16. Stock, it produces around 118-120 horsepower (less of course for the SOHC model, I don't know too much about that).
To answer your question, no it doesn't come in the 90 Integra. The 1990 Integra is equipped with a B18A. If you swap out the B18 for a ZC, you would be downgrading.

Re: what is a zc motor? (Sh!ttyLS)
Some info:
http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/zcinfo.html
Also, if I recall correctly, the D16A1/3 found in the 86-89 Integra is not technically considered a ZC motor. I think the exhaust cam actually has the exact same specs as the JDM ZC D16A8/9, but the intake cam specs are different. I know some people on g1teg.org have upgraded to ZC cams in their D16A1/3s.

You're right. They aren't the exact same motor, however, for lack of a better way to put it, kind of brother-sister motors.

I don't believe they ever came with a carb. I could be wrong though.

I'm talking about the ZC though. I know other honda motors came carbed. My Integra with a D16A1 (I don't want to call it a ZC because it technically isn't, just really close) is an 88 and has injectors.

Those were A-series motors. A20A3 for the Accord to be exact. I had one myself. I don't know about the Prelude, never owned one but those came with either a B20A3/5 depending of the trim level. Later Si models debuted with a B21A1. I really enjoyed carburated Hondas and it would be nice to own another again.
In Japan, the base model 1986-1989 & 1990-1993 Integra came with a ZC motors. I seen one before on a 1993 (3rd Gen to you and I).

Tehchnically it never came with "A" carb, it came with 2 of them! Its called a ZC Dual Carb. Produces 105 ish bhp but is lighter than a b16/b18... Its a grand engine and works wonders in lighter cars!
Oh, and im the guy from ireland your talking about! My teg is a 1995 Jap import, ZC 1.6 Dual carb... the engines are as rare as **** but their like busses in the end, you spend ages waiting for one, then 2 come along at once. I got my car back thursday after looking for a decent engine for 3 weeks, then today i get a phone call "do you want to buy a spare ZC engine"
Which reminds me, the ZC came in many formats, Multipoint injection, dual carb and some others i cant think of right now...

Just a heads up, you shouldn't make such ignorant statements without multiple reasons backing them up. So you care to explain why a zc is a piece of ****?
