my car has 37,558 miles and my rear rotors have deep cuts int them. so i bought two new ones for the rear from advanceauto for 45.00 for both, plus 23.99 for rear weaver breakpads.
buying new sparkplugs, wires, rotor, cap this friday, plus new airfilter.

timing belt/pump should be done at 60,000 mile intervals. along with valve clearance adjastment. that is the only time i can see myself going to Hall Honda to performe service.

ya well i can't be sure that the previous owners did all that, because when i got the car, the oil was clumpy. and actually helms says that the timing belt will last up to 105k miles i think in regular conditions and 90k in extreme

back from the dead post

i do all my maintenance at a friend's garage. they order all the parts from honda and we just put them in as needed. Some parts you can get cheaper online so we figure out the costs first before each job.

It's not a bad idea to replace the tensioner, but it's not absolutely necessary. If you have the extra money do it but if not it will probably be fine. I didn't change mine when I changed the belt but next time it's due I will.

Totally agree with mr_mbuna .

You don't need to get any of those work done at Acura. As long as your friend knows what he is doing, he should be able to take care of everything for you.

I changed the timing belt, water pump and front crank seal at ~130K. The belt had probably been changed before but I really don't know for sure. It still looked fine. Same with the waterpump but I wanted it to be good for awhile. The tensioner was fine so I left it alone. I've got 163K now.

i got:

oem distributor cap and rotor
oem timing belt
oem alternator belt
oem power steering belt
advanced auto A/C belt (acura told me they had one when they didn't so i didn't feel like driving up there again in a week to get it)
oem spark plugs
oem valve cover gasket
STR cam seal
Honda oil filter
Advanced auto oil
advanced auto fuel injection cleaning
used oem P/S pump/res/hoses
Honda Type II coolant
Honda Power Steering Fluid
Honda brake fluid
Honda M/T fluid
Hondabond

i think i will get my mechanic friend to do:
-replace timing, A/C, P/S, Alternator belts and Water pump (i don't have the right tools)
-Front brake pulsation
-inspect crankcase emissions
-inspect battery and clean terminals
-inspect valve clearance (i don't have the right tools)
-inspect anti-lock brakes system operation

unless i can find out how to do the ones in bold in my helms manual
