Re: (EpicKills)
My integra LS has around 260,000 miles, it doesnt burn a single drop of oil! ( But my cam cover does leak =P)
It still sounds beautiful, im sure it can make it to 300,000 no problem.
I change all my fluids regularly, inspect all my belts, i lubricate all rubber bushings/mounts every oil change, flush clutch, bleed brakes, bleed abs, coolant, the whole nine.
and i usually change my tranny fluid every 10-20k depending on how i drive.

I agree with everyone that with maintenance, the car can last a long time. But not forever. Besides engine wear, TIME deteriorates the various rubber seals inside the motor and then you have to tear it down. So even if it's sitting in a museum, eventually it's going to need a rebuild.
Miles are not a great indicator. A low mileage motor can be bad if it was abused or not maintained, or even if it was primarily used on the streets and in traffic in a harsh environment. A high mileage motor can be great if it was well maintained and a lot of the miles were freeway. It's very annoying when selling a car for people to put so much stock into mileage. I've sold swapped cars with over 200k and people still bitch about the miles. The motor was swapped stupid!
When I want to know the condition of a motor, I do a compression test first and then take it for a smog check. If it has good numbers on a smog test, then you know the rings are good, the injectors are good, ignition components are good, the sensors are good... and every Honda motor in good condition will breeze through a smog check unless it's been modified poorly by some idiot.
As a general rule of thumb, you're going to want to replace the motor around 200k. Low mileage JDM engines are cheap and easy. It's not necessary, but it's a good idea. It's cheaper than keeping the original motor going. If I was the one and only owner, I'd keep it going to at least 350k. I can't say beyond that because I don't have any personal experience.

300k is a pretty average number for a well taken care of honda. i sold a 232k eg that drove perfect not long ago, burned no oil etc. this b18c1 i now spin does burn some oil but it isn't too bad, seems like everyone with a C motor burns some oil.

The Ms. and I have:
89 CRX HF - 265,000 miles
93 Accord LX - 307,000 miles
We are giving the CRX to her uncle who races cars. And the Accord is going to one of those car donation places like Purple Heart or Vehicles for change. They are costing more to maintain than what they are worth. Stuff like CV boots; struts; etc. are causing problems. The Accord has the original engine and clutch. Had to redo struts and get a new CV boot a few years back. The CRX recently got a new clutch and I replaced the master cyclinder a few years back. Now the CV boot on the pass. side is gone up.
The oil changes, spark plugs, brakes were not a problem. It's the other stuff like struts, cv boots, etc. that are getting costly. These cars don't owe us nothing and have served us well for the past 15-20 years.....

How many miles you get out of your motor is determined by how well you treat it and how well you keep up with maintenance. Honda motors are extremely reliable, and have been proven to give up to 300,000....ONLY if taken cared of the right way.
btw my integra has 60k
gotta love the low mileage.

Re: (Dc2 Joe)
Something tells me mine will never reach 300k Just passed 90k and burn ALOT of oil. Probably as much as 1 litre per tank of gas. Compression test was 190-200 though...

Re: (TOO MUCH TORQUE)
oh those GSR motors.
Almost bought one with 199k miles on it, but it was blowing smoke so hard that i figured it would not pass emissions.

Re: (tegra2G)
an engine will last as long as you want to maintain it, keep in mind you may need new main bearings at some point, maybe a headgasket, perhaps new rings... but it will still drive after that.
now do you mean how many miles without the engine ever having been taken apart?
either way, mileage is just a number, like a girls weight. dont be afraid if its a little higher than average, cause it can still work just as well as long as you maintain it.

191k miles on b18c1 and STOCK CLUTCH that still grips. Regular oil changes and t belt is all what honda engines needs. It also passes smog with flying colors. I love my teggy!!!

Re: (TOO MUCH TORQUE)
the engine runs really smooth and the transmission is flawless as well. the only problem it has is that the stock header has a crack so it makes a lot of noise but other than that it's perfect.

Re:
I had an 88 accord LX that had a hair over 250,000 miles on it before I donated it for charity ( I was leaving for basic training at the time ). It was running strong as if it rolled off the lot with only a few miles. Sometimes.....I miss that car. I used to dick around and hit the highbeam button ( was it the highbeam or was it something else ) like really fast and make the headlights alternate...one up and one down But I never had any problems with the car. The previous owner maintained it well...and so did I.
That almost million mile Integra is somewhat hard to believe......

Re: (bsdc2)
Besides that craigslist ad, I read in motor trend awhile back where they tested an accord with over 1,000,000 (yes, one MILLION miles on it!!!) I was like dang... lol. and the only thing that was replaced on it besides regular maintenance was the catalytic converter and a few other little odds and ends.
My old civic had 238,000 on it when I sold it and never burned one single drop of oil. I saw the guy who bought it recently (quite some time after I had sold it to him) and he LOVES it! He's like yeah, that car's not going anywhere. lol it's strange to see it driving around from time to time.

When I purchased my 88 crx si a few years ago the odometer read 316,xxx! and the only thing that happened to it was that the head got warped due to overheating. I eventually swapped an Ls into it but im sure if i just got the head resurfaced it would have still ran strong.
