VIPER 791XV TROUBLRSHOOTING HELP
my son just dropped my keys in a bucket of water about an hour ago. i set it under a light so it could dry up. the remote still turns on just fine with a little bit of water spots in the screen. however, the remote says that the alarm is disarmed (showing the lock as "unlocked")
now i just need to know how do i reprogram the remote without messing with the alarm on the car at all if there is a possible way. what sucks is that i don't have the manual but i do remember reading that if the remote and alarm are not on the same rolling code, then to keep pressing the arm button on the alarm pad until the remote is transmitting to the alarm on the same code, but so far that's not working and it's chirping in sequence each time i press the arm button any single time. it chirps in this sequence, but i don't know if it's significant to anything. *beep beep*beep beep*beep beep*. can anybody help? i need to drive back home tonight, but i don't want to set off the alarm and start ripping through the hood and dash to bypass the alarm. anybody got any suggestions?? p

This happened to me too, take out the battery off the remote...Then dry it out really well, use a blow dryer...then disconect your car battery so that it resets, and then put the battery back it to your remote...Worked for me!

well, i just took out the fuse on the brain. so now no alarm as of the time being. but i'm going to have my friend who installed in reprogram the remote for me. and if that doesn't work, i'll just take it into the shop to get a new (2nd) remote. i think i should've bought a back up remote just at the fact having kids. i didn't even know my son nabbed the keys off the dinner table. that little crook! haha

Re: (Tizight)
well, in my case, it wasn't even transmitting to the brain. so the algorythm codes weren't matching up. so yeah, it's cool for now i guess, i'm just gonna have the whole system reset and reprogrammed.

Re: (iH8RICERZ)
that $#!+ sucks. but my homie that installed the alarm knows some other ways to reprogram other than what's shown in the manual. so i'm gonna go with that and see what happens.
oh, and for the record, disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it again doesn't work.

Re: (S1NFUL RL1 DB7)
I had to reprogram the remote once. Give me your email and I will send you a PDF manual that I found somewhere online like a year ago with instructions on how to reprogram the remote. Hopefully it will help you.
EDIT: oh and if you find out you need a new remote, buy it on ebay for a lot cheaper and then use the instructions i will send you to program the remote

how to program viper 791xv remote
Open the door (make sure door trigger is hooked up Green or Purple on the main harness)
Turn the ignition to ON and leave it
Within 10seconds do the following
Press the programming button once and then again and hold.(hold on the second press)
Press any button on the transmitter
The siren will chirp or LED will flash
Turn off key before letting go of the button
I am a viper dealer. try this a couple times its kinda hard to get used to the way they program. If it still doesnt work you will need a new remote, try taking it apart and cleaning everything really good and maybe the dealer you got it from can get it warrantied. It should have a life time warranty.
