Default Untitled001's DB7 Slow Build

So I have been a long time lurker on the forum, and I never thought about doing a build thread until now. I originally had a 1995 Civic coupe that I had for a while. I don’t have many pics. Long story short, I wanted something different and bigger so I sold the shell. Shortly after I bought the 1994 Acura Integra LS 4 Door which is my current car. I am still trying to figure out what direction to go with the car. I don’t plan on doing anything too crazy because the car will be my daily. Thanks for looking! Sorry for the cell phone pics
I have had the car for a little more than a month, so I have to play catch up.
Here is my old coupe

Pulling the motor to get rebuilt. April 20th 2012

*May 4th 2012* I started collecting some parts to rebuild my GSR a while ago. The plan for the engine is as follows. The block is in the shop, but I will be out of town for a while so I’ll pick it up when I get back.
USDM B18C1
Top and Bottom-End Refresh all seals and gaskets
81.5mm PCT Pistons & rings (already have)
ACL Rod Bearings
ITR Head (already have)
ITR Intake Manifold (already have)
3-Angle Valve job
ITR Camshafts
ITR Valvetrain (already have)
Skunk 2 Alpha Series Throttle body
New Header (haven’t decided)
Exedy OEM Spec Clutch
Exhaust (haven’t decided)
Hondata S300 (already have)
Hondata IMG
S80 Tranny GSR

The list will probably change. Lol

**May 30th 2012**Came back from my trip and the block is done!

Parts are waiting for me

The coupe being sold. I kinda miss that car already.

**June 6th 2012**And here is the Integra when I first got it

It has some paint fade but all of the panels are good and no rust. It has a JDM Type-r Conversion but the panels are all fiberglass. The fitment is terrible. I will have to redo it. And there is cardboard filling the gaps. Yes,…..cardboard.
The car was in decent shape but there were a lot of short cuts taken. Clutch didn’t work, Brakes didn’t work. Only one window rolls down. The P/S and A/C was removed but the left the lines. I will just remove it all.
It came with a JDM B16A that was built supposedly. With ITR pistons and JUN Stage 3 Cams and Skunk 2 Valvetrain. We will see later.

So I popped off the Distributor and valve cover to see if the motor really has JUN Camshafts. And it does!! I’ll be using these for the GSR.

**July 20th 2012**I fixed the brakes but I can’t figure out what going on with the clutch. So I am going to pull the motor and swap the GSR in. I don’t want to do it but I need the car for work. So let the fun begin.

Progress

The swap is in

**July 24th 2012**WTF!!!!!!!!! So who ever did the front conversion did a terrible job at welding the T-Bar. Long story short, the front end fell off while I was jacking up the car. Afterwards I looked around and there were only like 6 tack welds holding this front on!!!!! Thank god I haven’t driven this car yet. The good news is now I have an excuse to get a new front!!

2 weeks later the freight fairy came!!!

All OEM Panels

Doing it right this time

The new front

That’s all for now.

****Update**** So I fired up the motor for the first time and there is this weird knocking coming from the intake side of the block. It doesn't really sound like rod knock, and only really does it when it around 2500 rpm+ intermitently. So I am towed the car to the shop to figure out what going on. I'll keep you posted.

**Update** It looks like the sound may be wrist pin slap. smh.... oh well gotta fix it... on a postive note I will be upgrading my Valvetrain to SuperTech springs and retainers. So I will now be able to run the Jun Camshafts. Thats all for now.

So the engine was taken to the machine shop and found that one of them had a collapsed skirt. Everything else checked out good, so the block will be honed again and reassembled with new pistons. Ill try to get pics soon.

Yes the panels can be salvaged. I just dont want to hassle with parts that don't fit properly

SOO I am still waiting on the block. I have gotten my Valvetrain and new Rywire Harness ordered. I should have those any day. So I hope to have the DB back together in the next week or two. As I promised, here is my new pride and joy!!
A 2000 Integra Type-R hope you enjoy!

So I will be parting out the 4 door. I will post a thread in the classifieds. This thread will more than likely be taken over by the ITR.
