towing a jet ski with a DA?
So I just picked up a older sit down jet ski, a 1995 Kawasaki 750 SS to be exact. Came with a little single trailer. Not sure of the exact weight of everything but it can't be much, I'm saying like 1100lbs at most. How would a DA handle towing a load like this? I do have upgraded brakes and suspension (Koni/GC's), I figure that has to help out some. My engine is a B18B that is mostly stock but has a I/H/E. I wouldnt be towing it far either, like 25 miles each way on a relatively flat free way. There are a few decent size hills along the way though.
So would I be able to do it okay? I only bought the jet ski because it's like brand new and was dirt cheap, I shouldnt of but it was a total impulse buy and sounded like fun. But I don't want to have to buy another vehicle to tow it though. So if the DA won't cut it I will just sell the jet ski.

I have a tire trailer and total about 500-550 lbs. I can't really feel it. I think that you will be ok. Be careful of tongue weight and balance. Do you have a hitch? I found E-trailer

on the net one of the best prices. Like Uhaul. Easy install, unless you have an after market muffler. I had to have a friend cut the hitch, make a new arm, and weld it to clear the muffler. I don't know how your ramp into the water is. Pulling it up a ramp could be hard on the clutch.

Think about how much power a 22R makes compared to a B18. You've got the power to tow it, I would just make sure you don't put too much weight on it and damage the unibody

The more I think about it, towing shouldnt be the problem. I think the biggest problem is going to be launching the thing. Maybe not so much launching, but after your done and loading it back on the trailer. I'm worried about trying to pull the cars max load up a steep incline on wet pavement in a FWD car with all the weight in the rear. Not to mention my tires suck when wet.
Hopefully I can hear from someone who has actually tried doing this and knows how it will work before I go to the lake and make a complete *** of myself.

clutch is going to take a beating. don't get the front tires wet. you'll have to feather and slip the clutch to pull it out of the water.

not sure about pulling it out of the water, but i pull a pretty big trailer with a yz125 in it. i know it weighs over 1100 lbs (trailer is BIG) but you'll be fine.

Oh man, this just sounds like a bad idea to be honest. I dunno dawg, lol. My dad taught me when I first started driving, "Whenever in doubt, Never!" I think we should let the trucks do the towing in my opinion. You're by water... lots of it, clearly when you're launching the boat, and you say your tires suck when they're wet? *uneasy face* I dunno man, kinda risky if you ask me.

You can tow 1000lb, [trailer and load], tongue weight must not exceed 100lb, [or 10% of trailer and load], your Kawasaki 750 SS weighs 375lb [dry], not sure about trailer, but it is a sure bet it weighs less then 625lb so towing is not a problem.
To get correct tongue weight, [most important] weigh the trailer and jet ski with a full load of gas, [in jet ski] adjust tongue weight accordingly, have fun. 94
