Re: (eddiedeader)
just cuz your revs can get your car to a supposed 160mph doesn't mean you'll make it there; at some point air resistance overpowers your motor and won't allow you to accelerate any faster.
that, and your speedometer is terribly inaccurate at that speed. If your speed said 140, i'd say 125 or 130.

Re: (opiumdaze)
went up to 160 on my 96 GSR Racing a Bmw 5 series...it was to dark i couldnt see what model it was though. he didnt let up till around 155 or maybe he hit some rev limiter or something. but i went about 10 more than the 150 that ours show.

Bullshit. I've taken my 99 LS, bone stock, over 141. Solid as ever. Feels sweet, no disinegrating or anything of the such. Felt glued to the road, kinda, little bit of steering floating from 100-120, but it firmed up above 120.

Good try though.

I've gone 140 on the speedo in my stock gsr down a hill. Its one of those things you only do once as a teenager if you do it at all. These days I usually never go over 90, and rarely over 80. Going over 100 on the street is just for the "thrill" and once you get more mature you realize how stupid it is to go over that speed.
Oh btw, at 140 on the speedo, car felt kinda floaty and definitely not safe at all.

Going over 100 on the highway is considered a misdemeanor in many areas. Thats why everyone should road race, you can go as fast as you want legally.

Re: (PredatorGSR)
ive gone 146mph in my first GSR. Never will do it again though. My new only gotten it to 120 or so racing. Theres no need to go 150mph just to see if you can.

I managed 145mph (from my RSM) in my JDM Si integra...theoretically on stock ECU rev limit the GSR/Si will do around abouts 164mph. My car felt absolutely stable at 145mph but that was possibly due to a full mugen kit and W rated advan tyres and it was on a wide open empty 3 lane motorway.

RE:
When you are 16 years old you really dont care much about consequences what would happen at high speed if something goes wrong. Well i was 16 years old and i wanted to top out my car to see what it can do, and one evneing i went for it. I didnt pay attention to my speedo well because that was fastest i was doing in my life, but i remember my rpms right around 6800-6900 rpm in fifth gear before i let off so i had to do 145+ mph. This was my 95 integra rs with little bolt ons i/e, no ac, clutch and 17'' Enkei RS6's with good year gd1 tires. This was going downhill nice cool breeze in the evneing. The car felt pretty stable at that speed no shaking or any kind of vibrations.
Maybe two months after that i was doing 120 mph oh the highway, it was late at night no cars. As i'm driving in the right lane about 1/2 mile ahad i see a car and he's in left lane, I didnt pay much attention as i'm flying in the right lane. As i approach him right on the overpass he decides to change lanes and goes over into my lane. Now this happened so fast that i had no place to go. I turn left and the rear end just came around, I spun maybe twice and i ended up crashing into the guard rail. Friend of mine was with me in the car and me and him managed to walk away with out a scrach on us. After that accident i have never even though about flying on the highway even if there is a single car on the road.

Re: RE: (blown_LS)
can someone find me a logical reason why the speedometer would lose accuracy at higher speeds?
im not exactly sure how our speedos work..but assuming its mechanical [ i have no idea, but the last speedo i worked on [91 gt stang] was completely mechanical], and basically however fast the rear dif was spinning was hooked up to gears in the gauge cluster, so the faster the dif was spinning, the speedo gears would spin proportionally faster, so therefore there is no possible way for the speedo to be reading different that whats actually going on...unless you were skipping/breaking teeth of the gears, and then it would be off at all speeds.
Now what i'm trying to say, is that if the speedo is accurate at lower speeds [0-80], why does it lose accuracy at higher speeds. by principle it shouldnt.

Re: RE: (96integra)
Because it is off by a percent, and the faster you go, that same percent is being applied, so it will be off by even more. Get it?
Say it's off by 2%
At 10mph, it's only .2mph off.
But at 100mph, it's 2mph off.

Re: RE: (96integra)
I hit 130 indicated on my speedo...was probably going like 120. I hit 115 and bang off the governor with my new motor and wonderful P30 ECU. Yes it's dangerous, but some people have problems...I'm working on my second license suspension...and MANY thousands of dollars later. I'm slowing up I think.
There is loss in your speedo cable from friction and other external factors that will affect it's accuracy, such as bigger rims, wind resistance, etc... Hope this helps.

Re: RE: (m R g S r)
Very true, so... even having a 2% error, 141, or anything over 100, for instance, would not be "120 at best"
BTW, no bs. 141 reading @ speedo.

my LS with Neuspeed sport spings and shitty tokico shocks is pretty stable around 110-120mph indicated. i would get on a highway and everyone would be doing 80mph and i would just accelerate without realizing i was doing 110mph indicated. but i have topped out wiht the speedo saying 134 before. took for ******* ever. pretty stable on the suspension i had. tegs get a thumbs up from me for higher speed driving.
i used to drive fast all the time. i'm talking $100+mph speeds. so i'm used to it when i'm cruising at 110mph. and it's a bad thing. i just pegged my 240's needle past it's 115mph limit. felt stable except from a slight unbalance rumble from the wheels
