Re: Tie Rod And Ball Joint Replacement (da_33)
I'm an Ottawa guy, but man you're overpaying for this for sure.
upper arm's I got mine for 65 bucks, lower for 40
tie rods for 25 a peice, and alignment is 69.95 like u said.
labor I got it done for 130 bucks all around, where are you going to get this done??! crappy tire? watch out because most people over charge for their parts.
and if you know your balljoints and tie rod is bad, you shouldnt drive on them or your tire will pop out. just an FYI

They maybe quoting you for OEM parts but I'd go for aftermarket parts in this case. If the labour rate includes alignment than it's okay.

All but the alignment I think you will be able to do yourself. I did most of those recently, not hard at all. As for prices, ya they seem to be high, about the only price that seems right is the alignment.
If you have purchased the parts let me know, I have a buddy who has a shop and can get your these parts. And he is in burlington.
his website is
http://www.oemimport.com
prices are about half of what you were quoted. If you want to go thru him let me know and I will see if I can help you out on prices out at all but they are good already I think. Parts are OEM replacement though.
Let me know.

Don't buy ebay parts for you suspension.
Get OEM. http://www.acuraparts247.com
You can get upper arms w/UBJ for $110. LBJ for about $30.
It's not a fun job by any means. Not a lot of room to work with it you plan on doing it without taking off the knuckle. There's only about an inch and a half (that's about 36mm for you) between the top of the LBJ and the brake disc, and many times you have to heat up the knuckle to get the LBJ to slide back in.
The tie rod end however is pretty damn easy to do yourself.
Just remember to get an alignment anytime you mess w/your suspension. A lot of places offer a lifetime alignment and its usually pays for itself when you go back the 2nd time.

I have never heard of any suspension parts from ebay being worth a damn.
But like the others on here have said, do the work yourself it will be cheaper. My brother just needed all the same things as you and I did it for him except the alignment. He was quoted almost $800 as well for after market parts.
I got all his parts at O'rilleys but they were also with an employee discount (gotta love friends in manegment )
Good luck man

Alot of those "satisfied customers" are 16 y/o kids and ricers that don't care about quality, just having this and that on their car.

What are you going on about?
It takes about 5 min to get it out, and about 30secs to slide back in.
