I would go with a snap-off system so you can just take ur steering wheel off so no one will steal it. thats what I have in my car and nobody has tried anything all u need is the snap off a momo hub and a momo steering wheel. glad they found ur car man. I hate thieves!they should all die

Quick update:

Insurance called, they are giving me ~7k + 6% tax ( ) minus deductable = $7k check. Sweet.

If you don't have some sort of alarm or security system guys...get one. Don't make it any easier for the filth of the world

Just curious, what mall? Bridgewater? Short Hills? Rts 22, 24 and 78, ALL roads lead directly to Newark, ya know.

Blue Star shopping center, I was getting a goddamn $2 fish

Right now I'm looking for a 944 (Turbo or NA, just looking for the right car). I don't even want that car back after what they did to it.

Thanks Stiffler, but the car was recovered already, sans engine/trans/wheels.

Blue Star.
Whenever I park my GS-R on 22 I'm paranoid as F#$%K!
22 is the pipeline right to Newark.
My friend works at Springfield Acura on 22 and he tells me they steal ANY Integras not nailed down. At least one every couple of weeks.
And they always find them just like yours= No engine/trans/wheels.
Thats why I don't ever take the GS-R anywhere, anymore.

is the problem this bad in NJ? I was thinking of getting a 94-95 GSR and debadging it and also getting rid of the wheels...should i stay away?

i know how it feels to be paranoid when parking at malls, damn i don't take the car anywhere - it's a 02 Maxima and headlights get stolen left and right ... to make it worse I see them on sale here on Honda Tech

I'm almost glad I don't have the money to buy a GS-R. I'd be paranoid about getting it stolen, considering all of the thefts I read about on here.

My advice, however, is get the Porsche 951 not the 944 (951 is the 944 turbo). There is more difference than just the engine. The 951 gets better suspension and brakes, etc. You can find a decent 951 for less than 10k no problem.

Good luck!

Ben

just do what i do
get a hatch and strip the interior
leave it ugly as hell and have a decent motor and suspension
problem solved, nobody wants to steal my car let alone look at it

Jersey is bad...especially Newark! I believe one of the car theft capitals of the world! Well sorry to hear about the loss....too bad we have a waste of flesh runnin' around taking other peoples stiff and can't earn an honest living. I was paranoid about my GS-R......and now it's gone...not cause someone stole it, but cause I totaled it. Just get a Type-R and call it the day.

**** blue star ... I feel your pain ... some dudes tried to steal my bone stock DA infront of arby's but the cops rolled in and snagged them. Like 2 weeks ago I was at marshall's (again fucken 22) and a 13yr old kid tried to boost my 98 Ford Escort . Little ***** tried to run when he saw me and busted his *** on the ice.

I know you said the car is totaled and if you dont plan on keeping can I suggest that you get a salvage title (assuming that the remains of the car are in good condition) . I'm only suggesting this because you might be able to make a little more money off of any remaining usable parts. When I worked for state farm sometimes people would ask about getting a salvage for a recovered car, check with your agent for details. I'm pretty sure you have to go to trenton to get it.

Funny how everyone in the rest of the country knows how bad NJ is when it comes to car theft.
This is turning into a bad NJ thread, instead of stolen teg thread. LOL
Funny, I started buying hondas because I figured who would ever bother stealing a honda. Who knew?

I think i have it the worse...Im the next town over from Newark..the highway to Newark from my house is about .2 miles ....rt 21 straight into Newark...Mine actually got stolen last week and im waiting for a response from the insurance to see if they are gonna consider it a total loss or fix it which i doubt..but its taking to long cause im so damn anxious to get a new car...well used but newer year and less miles....had a 95 LS and thinking about a GS-R..probably crazzy but i think i might go thru with it...and funny how somebody mention New Jersey Drive..i was watching it on sunday when my car got stolen on monday night (tuesday morning)..same difference..**** all theives

I seriously would stay away from getting a GSR in ur area.. I live in central jersey and I hardly can sleep at night because I'm afraid of my car getting stolen. Every little noise I hear I get up and check on it. I am considering selling it mid-end summer and buy a bmw or audi just so I don't have to think about it anymore. I love the car but the inevitable will happen so I wanna get rid of it before it does happen. It sucks to own a dohc vtec motor in the NJ\NY.

Yeah i know i thougth of gettin a different car such as a lexus Is or something but i really hate the fact that i really dont know **** about them and it will probably cost alot of money gettin them fixed being that the dealers charge so much...and sometimes u cant trust them..plus im only 19 making about 13 an hour so i really dont have alot of money to just spend...even tho insurance for a teg is crazzy.. but i just love tegs after owning the Ls and it is pretty crazzy to get a gs r but hopefully i can do my best from it gettin stolen such as parking in my driveway behind my fathers truck every night...kill switches...alarm...auto lock and some kid told me about this **** he has in his car where he has to punch in like a 5 digit code for the car to start...anybody have that or heard of it..is it any good?
