Default stay w/ the gs-r or move on?

okay guys this is my situation...I own a 95 gsr. I bought it in March of this year. It had 159k, and bought it from an older couple for $5,500. 9 months later(which is now) its lowered and it has a custom "2.25 catback and it has 170k now. I'm thinking about selling it and getting a 2002 Acura RSX type-s. What should I do? Keep the teg and continue to deck it out ? Or just get rid of it and start over with a new car w/ low miles and deck that one out. I know hondas are good with miles but I just want some opinions and some advice...

if you have the money, why the hell not. If i were you i would not continue to mod it much more. my 95' GSR only has 100k and i am only doing little stuff because of the high miles (i/e/h/ suspension).

if you have the money right now i would say go for the RSX, especially since interest rates are low. otherwise just keep the integra and stop modding. drive the GSR, while saving money, until it blows up. this way you can have more money to put down on a future car, or have more mod money for your future car.
good luck with what ever you do

yah people have told me that i shouldnt put more $$ into the teg b/c of the milage and to wait for my next car. The real issue is that I took the loan out for what it was worth 9 months ago, now the value of the car has declined greatly. So the cars blue book value is around $4,300 and my loan payoff is $5,400 So ya see my problem. And insurance companies dont cover mechanical problems, so if something happens then I'm screwed and stuck with loan payments for a car that I wouldnt have anymore. This was all my fault. I wasnt thinking when I bought the car. I wasnt thinking ahead. Dont get me wrong , I love my car almost more than anything. I just shouldve got one with lower milage, cause at the time everyone was sayin not to worry about the miles...
thanks for the advice, I will take it into consideration

first off your worrying about your car breaking down and it doesn't have problems?

You never know how long its going to last, it could blow up tomorrow or it could last well over 200,000 miles. If you take care of it and go through the correct maintenance then by all means you spent your money well. If it was taken care of before you got it then there basically is no worries except normal maintenance. I think your overreacting, I mean 170k is a lot of miles but by all means doesn't mean you don't have many more left.

You should do a compression test on the motor and see what kind of power she's making. If it comes out clean across the board then why even worry?

I think you should keep the GSR and use its potential. I mean if all goes wrong eventually down the road, you could rebuild and make that baby a monster. This would all be far less money then it would cost to get a RSX-S. But hey do what you want.....Your not in that bad of a situation man. I have a buddy that ran a 15.01 this summer in his bone STOCK gsr with 190k on the clock. Honda makes some damn reliable engines, keep your options open yes...but by all means don't give up on your GSR just because of the a digit on the odometer.

you can't even pay off the 5k loan on the gsr, and you are already thinking of buying a brand new car?

You should pay off the loan completely then think of moving on - till then your stuck with a high mialage gsr...

next time you get a car loan see if you can get something called gap insurance for it. that means if the car is deemed a total loss and the amount you owe is more than the value of the car then that insurance will pay the difference.

My hell, 100000 isnt high at all for a honda. It may be high for a ford or some other american car that needs to be rebuilt every 75k, but i have had 2 integras that have lasted well over 200000 (both were g1s) my 90 g2 currently has 195000 and still pulls strong.

This had nothing to do with you being a girl or not - and I think it's lame that you even bring that up as a defense... No one said anything to be cruel - we told you exactly how we felt, which is what you asked us to do. If you don't want both negative and possitive feedback then don't ask for any feedback at all - this is the way of honda-tech, we all get flamed atleast a few times during our stay here.

If you come on here and post up that we hurt your feelings it just shows a lack of maturity. We are trying to help you, where in gods name did anybody type something that offends females or your situation? Please ellaborate.....

We are all here for the same reason (most of us). Taking in information and spreading knowledge. Take whats given to you, some of us know what we are talking about some of us don't. Thats why you need to understand which posters know what they are talking about. Also, search as much as you can to find info. By the way, when i made my statement I was unaware that you were a female or perhaps anything else. I made it regarding your question.......Just settle down and take in the advice given to you.

I think you have to assess your current situation and life before you can make a decision.

I'll use myself as an exmaple.

I'm full a full time college student and I do not have time or money to mod my car. So I'm looking to move on to something else that'll hold me till I graduate.

The way I see it now is work hard now and play harder later. I just need something reliable to get me to campus, around, and home. No need to **** it up by moding the car.

But that's just me.

Keep the 95 Gsr pinoprincezb18c1, that motor will last for a long time and you should continue to fix it up, trust me.

Just keep good matience on it and it'll be fine. i have 160,xxx and boostin and it still runs strong..

Is there any reason you want to get a rsx besides the reason that your car has high miles?

Im pretty sure it wont break down on you besides the noraml breaking axles, transmission going out, clutch going out, or some common problem like that and those arn't really big problems..

Good luck in your decision..

BTW.. no one was trying to criticise you or was putting you down, just letting you know what we all think you should do.. if you can afford the bills get the rsx.. if you can't, stick with the GSR and fix it up cause GSRs are still nice *** cars.. and people are right.. DONT WORRY ABOUT THE MILES.. Good Luck

OMG Maria!!!!!!!!! Definately stay with the car!! You have no idea what kind of potential your car is worth. Your car can last and it will. Theres plenty of integra drivers in this forum that has more than 200,000 miles on it and still running strong. Theres just a couple of things that can be fixed to make it run like a champ. It just takes some time and money to get there. Like just doing the small stuff first would sure help it out alot. Like changing the timing belt, water pump, valve adjustment; all of that can make the car go a loooong way. Seriously- and by then, you'll be roasting RSX'es in no time. .

Hey Maria. I remember when we went to go picki the car up in March, heh heh. I'll agree with Armando and say that you should just keep the GSR. haha I bet the RSX doesn't have as smooth a steering wheel as yours Keep it!

OO, Where is my Grey Goose?!?!?! Been waiting for that, girl.

hey i have a 92 LS-Vtec and it had over 200 thousand miles on it and almost every one of those miles were raceing miles, and ran nos through it for a year or two. i just took out the engin and took it apart to put all new parts in it. well i found that there was hardley any wear on the cylenders. infact i would say that it would have lasted for a long time more. i would have kept it the way it was but i wanted to just build the bottom end to the hilt. i would say just keep your car, and it would be cheaper to get your motor rebuilt then to get a new car or a new engin. then it will be like new

Like stated before- It all depends on the situation.

If I were you, I would first pay off the loan. Then look at replacing old beat up parts. Start small then work your way up.

Your engine is only as reliable as you want it to be. If you want it to last then it will, but there will be some money spent.

Do you have a stable job? What are your goals for the car? Can you make a commitment to rebuilding it if need be? These are all questions you need to answer first.

Ohh and milage means nothing because you can always rebuild it. I mean why buy a gsr of all integra's, with that many miles, and not have a rebuild in mind for the near future?

The choices are endless, but only do what is comfortable to you

Hey I hear ya. I'm sorta in the same situation. I work full time, college part time and I have my own place. So you can imagine my financial situation. The point that I was trying to make is that I dont want to end up dumping all this money to keep the car maintained and end up spending more money to maintain the car then whats it actually worth. Which I know that older cars have thier regular routine, I know. Not too long ago I had to change the starter which wasnt cheap. (Well for me it wasnt) Thats why I was asking if I should just get another newer car so I dont have to worry about having to replace and maintain, it could be ONE less worry I have if I got a newer car.(until it got older)he he

don't let 100k miles throw you off...i've got over 165K, cams, intake manifold, jdm dc header, exhaust, intake, dual vavle springs, chipped p28 with higher redline, it's on the track 2 days a week in the summer, driven daily, only major problem is the normal left corner head gasket leaking a little oil and abs motor runs more than normal, other things i changed was just from previous owner letting things go on.(brake master cyl, bent shift fork in tranny, leaking clutch mas. cyl). but i love my 4dr gsr..and the lsd ctr tranny put in this week rocks..
