Starter help
So i took out my starter to rebuild it, but when i took it out, the motor (i believe) kind of slipped out and now i can't seem to put it back in.
I was wondering if anyone know if the side with the teeth on the motor is suppose to go into the starter houseing, or is the side with the bearing kind of thing suppose to go in there.
It was the bearing side it seemed, but now i can't get the motor into the houseing.
Please any help appreciated.

Re: Starter help
the side with the teeth is supposed to go towards the engine..
take the 2 small phillips head screws from the back of the starter and you'll have to pry the 4 pieces of metal to allow the bearing side of the motor to slide into place..

Re: Starter help
Thanks for the reply all-mtr-teg, but that's actually where I got the idea of rebuilding the starter.
ShakendBakeDA,
I tried that, so I was able to put the side that only has that bearing piece slip through the 4 pieces then tried to put the side with the teeth/bearing onto the starter housing, but it still wouldn't fit...but i could have swear that's the way it fell out (makes sense, the teeth were touching the other teeth of the starter housing), but anyways, so then i tried it the other way but there was no way i could get that bearing through the 4 spring loaded pieces, so i eventually then stripped one of the screws...so now i just need to get the screw out.
But can you/anyone clarify this to me again, the side that goes into the piece with the 4 spring loaded pieces, is that just the bearing or the teeth and the bearing???
