Spark plug gapping..
So I ginally got some time to do a little work on Debby the DA. Last week when I removed the sparkplugs I noticed the porcelen on one of the plugs was cracked, so naturally I bought 4 new NGK plugs for the 90 Gs as they were the original plugs, so says the autozone dude.Anywho I saw the spark plug gapping and measurement tool so I asked what was the recommendted gap for my car, the clerk said .44 so I took a new plug out and measured it and I got what looks like .40. I have pics ill try and post. I adjusted them to what I think is .44, I also applied he anti seizing lubricant on them so they dont get stuck, made sure not to drop the plugs in and tightened them hand tight. I dont have a torque wrench yet.. Does that sound right to you guys? Can I ask other questions not related to the OP, or do I need a new thread? Just trying to follw the rules.. pics should be comming.... Dunno how to just post the pucs here, pics in garage...

the gap specs are in the FAQ sticky section as for hand tight that should be ok. For pics Go advanced>manage attachments>browse>chose pics from comp. or upload on photo buckt and use the method.

Re: Spark plug gapping..
The first pic is where I ended up after trying to get .44, the second photo is what the gapping is like out of the box. The old plugs I pulled out of the car were all at .40 like the new plugs out of the box. Havent cranked it yet as I had to remove a hose that went from the intake into the brake booster and I dont know if i should start the engine without that hose. I removed it to replace it with a new hose ill buy later today. Q, when I removed the hose there was a release of air pressure comming from the brake booster, is that normal?

If I can chime in about the torque wrench for spark plugs, you dont really need one all you have to do is tighten it until u feel a little collapse. That would be the crush ring on the plugs

Thanks for the tips guys. Well I started her up and she seems to like the new plugs. I had a weird sputter at low rpms in gear before and it seems to have disapeared. Hopefully it holds up as it disapeared the first time I cleaned the fitv but came back an hour into driving her around. I also noticed that the line going from the intake manifold to the brake booster had a crack in it so I replaced that too. Im guessing that would cause a vacuum leak? Anywho so far so good.. Here she is..
